Responsible for purchasing pharmaceutical and medical supply items for CuraScript Specialty Distribution. Ensure appropriate inventory to meet customer demand and contractual requirements. Communicate to internal and external customers/vendors product shortages. Work with financial analysis, program delivery and reporting team to provide accurate reporting to support vendor contracts and department processes. The Buyer would be responsible for working with vendors that typically do not require complex forecasting, special purchasing inventory days on hand requirements.
Negotiate final pricing & terms, issue purchase orders, monitor for on-time delivery and follow-up and resolve any delivery or performance issues and process invoices.
Work with internal customers to understand print job specifications or product/service requirements while looking for opportunities to optimize printing and/or postage costs.
Manage printed materials inventory including; turn ratio, dead stock, receiving issues and distribution cost optimization.
Analyze supplier proposals, including analysis of financial terms as well as business terms and specifications.
Identify prospective bidders with clients and issue request for quotes as appropriate.
Recommend and implement process improvements and cost savings with internal customers. Work with Purchasing management to set annual cost savings targets and report monthly on performance against targets.
Resolve supplier performance problems; monitor supplier performance to ensure it meets performance standards. Participate in annual supplier reviews with major suppliers.
Develop opportunities to include diverse suppliers in the bidding process in support of Express Scripts Supplier Diversity program.
BA/BS degree or 6 – 8 years of equivalent working experience.
0-2 years relevant purchasing experience.
Experience to include technical knowledge of artwork, all press methods, including conventional, electronic and computer-to-plate printing methods, including digital, web and sheet fed processes – to support both Pantone Matching System (PMS) and process color work, various binding and finishing techniques and applications.
Negotiations experience with a demonstrated ability to evaluate and manage supplier relations preferred.
C.P.M. (Certified Purchasing Manager) certification a plus.
Microsoft office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); email.
Ability to interface with internal and external customers and suppliers in a professional and ethical manner.
Excellent negotiation, communication, time management, and quality customer service skills.
