We are growing and Crossroads' Turning Points, Inc. is searching for adynamic individual to become the Counselor for the Lamar area. The idealcandidate must provides counseling services to individuals, using acombination of therapeutic and recreational activities.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other dutiesmay be assigned.Conducts client assessments, obtains all relevant information. Placesclients into appropriate levels of care.Conducts group, family and individual counseling sessions. Incorporatesrelaxation exercises, peer counseling groups, and family counseling duringclinical process. May conduct educational lectures or seminars.Responsible for meeting agency episode requirements.Monitors client behaviors and progress. Incorporates behavior modificationand stress management therapy to assist clients in controlling substance abuseand other problems.Administers and analyzes client testing instruments, reviews results oftests to evaluate client needs.Provides clients with therapeutic projects, recreational therapy, or otheractivities.Assures that all documentation is complete before submitting it to the DataDepartment by established deadlines.Maintains client records according to licensing regulations. Regularlyreports clinical status to unit supervisor. Complete monthly reports toreferral sources.Coordinates and refers to supportive services in the community to supplementtreatment and counseling. Assist clients in obtaining services to becomeself-sufficient and prevent relapse in a timely manner.May be required to observe clients during the collection of urine samples andassures compliance with chain of custody process. Includes proper charting andreporting.May be required to assume temporary responsibility and management of specificaspects of program.QUALIFICATIONS:Education:Requires a minimum of a High School diploma or GED and CAC II or CAC III isrequired.Bachelor s or Master s degree in human services preferred.Experience: Two or more years of experience working in human services orsubstance abuse treatment field. Some positions may require experience workingwith certain populations such as children and adolescents, offenders etc.Other:Must have an understanding of ASAM level of care criteria.Must have solid communication skills. Basic computer skills required.CPR and first-aid certification.
