  • Licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse in accordance with Florida Statute 464 or eligible to practice nursing in accordance with Florida Administrative Code 210-8.27.

  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in nursing or a related field Plus Two (2) years of nursing experience. A master's degree from an accredited college or university in nursing, nursing education, public health, or a related field may substitute for one year of the nursing experience. Professional nursing experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required college education.

  • Fluency in the English Language: Reading, Writing, Speaking.

  • Must have excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Successful completion of a Level II background screening and Drug Test.


  • Certified CPR Trainer.

  • Experience working in a Long-Term Care facility.

  • Experience with infection control.

  • Experience running a staff education program.

Maintains a reference library of current material. Keeps abreast of changes and recommendations from CDC and OSHA per established policies and procedures.

Provides or ensures required and specialized training to staff.

Keeps Director of Nursing (DON) informed of competency levels of nursing personne,l in accordance with established policies and procedures.

Notifies appropriate department heads within ten (10) working days when an employee misses more than one program.

Posts notices to employees of program presentation. Keeps attendance records, both by program and individuals per policies and procedures.

Coordinates in-service programs on new nursing procedures, products, techniques, or methods that have been approved and adopted by administration per established policies and procedures.

Coordinates and conducts orientation classes for all newly hired personnel. Administers a Nursing Care Needs Survey to all newly hired nursing department employees. Provides programs in first 30 days to meet any learning deficit identified.

Ensures all employees receive their physicals within required time frame. Administer TB tests to new employees and annually to all other employees. Arrange for chest x-rays as required and within proper time frame. Submit documentation to Personnel in a timely manner.

Administers Hepatitis B vaccine to employees. Submits documentation to Personnel in a timely manner.

Trains and uses Basic Life Support (CPR) when necessary.

Prepares the annual Staff Education Calendar.

Reviews and evaluates the infection control policies. Keeps infection control policies current.

Participates in federal and state surveys per established policies and procedures.

Interviews certified nursing assistant applicants for available positions. Completes reference checks on prospective employees

Will have no more than two valid, sustained complaints during each review period.

Completes other assignments from the Administrator by due date.

Must be self directed in daily duties and have excellent communication skills and abilities.
