High School Diploma or GED required (Exception: ICF program).
1 year of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or a Bachelors degree (B.A./B.S.) from a four-year college or university in psychology, special education, social work, rehabilitation or a related field highly preferred.
Must work a 5 day per week schedule in the home including at least one weekend day. Shifts worked by the Lead DSP will be determined by the Program Supervisor based on the specific needs of the home (i.e. could be day shift, could be evening shift or some combination of both).
Must have acceptable criminal background check. Must possess a good driving record, provide proof of current drivers license and insurance if program/job position requires.
Must comply with drug free workplace policies.
Must secure and maintain First Aid and CPR certification within 30 days.
Must be eighteen years of age or older. Some programs/job positions require 21 years or age.
Must be an authorized driver and be able to use personal vehicle to transport individuals.
Demonstrated competency with skills and abilities to work successfully with the challenging behaviors of supported individuals in care.
Demonstrated competency in basic knowledge of daily living skills, communication, community interaction and recreation.
Demonstrated capacity to be an appropriate role model, including exhibiting mature behavior and making appropriate decisions.
The purpose of this position is to provide a consistent presence in the home (5 days per week) to ensure continuity of services to supported individuals, health, safety, and well-being of supported individuals, complete and accurate documentation, and a clean, well-maintained, personalized home. The Lead DSP serves as an assistant to the Program Supervisor and a mentor to other DSPs in the home. Based on having a day to day presence in the homes, the Lead DSP ensures timely reporting and follow-up on any concerns and issues in collaboration with the Program Supervisor.
