Verizon Wireless Equipment Engineer in Laurel, Maryland
Primary role would be to work as an Engineer I – Equipment. This includes Engineer, analyze and determine cell equipment needs and provide corresponding cell equipment designs.
Create quote request and purchase orders and oversee the integration of equipment for cell sites (including Antennas, TMAs, RF Components, Remote Radio Heads, power systems, batteries, microwave, transport interconnect equipment, LTE eNB and all other miscellaneous items required for cellular engineering and operations). The Engineer must work closely with the vendors to ensure that the cell equipment gets installed and implemented as designed.
Create software programs to improve efficiency and quality across all programs.
Help drive regional reductions in Lost, In Transit, Spares
Manage the redeployment of Regional excess equipment
Provide data analysis and reporting in support of Staging facility operations and Inventory metrics
Work closely with the antenna manufacturer to resolve issues and order replacement material for projects. The Engineer will work with antenna vendors on any antenna issue and first push for a replacement product and second push for a resolution of issues to minimize such occurrences in the field in the future. Recommendation to antenna vendors on improving products is an important aspect of the Equipment Engineering job.
Schedule and coordinate equipment deliveries and site access for all cell site locations.
Be up to date and understand the indoor and outdoor LTE technology and the LTE equipment and configuration as well as any other products such as Batteries, power plants, radios, and cabinets.
Help maintain the regional monthly cell capital plan by ensuring spending accuracy in monthly forecasting and working on the match exception and Open Commits reports.
Manage vendors to meet targeted network milestones, provides timely feedback and clearly communicate turn-up dates to customers.
Provide input for planning budget and works within the financial constraints of the allocated budget as defined by budget manager or area guidelines.
Work closely with the RF, System performance, Inventory, Operations and Implementation as well as Area Planning teams to support the Washington Baltimore new cell program and capital projects including Macros, Overlay projects and
Bachelor of Science in Engineering
Master of Science preferred.
0 –2 Years of Experience in Wireless Engineering or any related Telecommunications Field.
Experience and knowledge in Programming languages.
Knowledge of LTE Technology (4G/5G) and Antennas/RF Components
Experience with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, etc..)
Project Management Experience
Self-motivated. Able to define and develop processes and procedures and communicate clearly with others to ensure that requirements are clearly understood.
Superior analytical, organizational, interpersonal, operational, written and verbal communication skills required.
Must have ability to work in a high-pressure dynamic environment where constant priority change is required.
Demonstrate positive role model for other team members and customers.
