This selectee for this position serves as a Medical Support Assistant in one of the various clinics for Naval Hospital Lemoore located in Lemoore, California.
- Performs a variety of receptionist duties associated with patient care and treatment.
- Receives patients in the clinic and via telephone in order to determine the nature of their visit/phone call.
- Verifies patient information to determine accuracy.
- Schedules medical appointments for patients and conferences/meetings for staff.
- Confirms patient's eligibility for treatment within the Defense Eligibility Enrollment Reporting System (DEERS) or via Military Identification card, hospital identification card or Composite Health Care System (CHCS).
- Responds to various general medical, personnel, and administrative inquiries and/or complaints.

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have ONE year of progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work, preferably in an outpatient health care setting that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled.

SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE:
Applicants may substitute the following education for the required experience, provided it demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to do the work of the position: 2 years (60 semester hours) successfully completed education above high school level that was obtained in an accredited business or technical school, junior college, college or university for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite. Possession of the requirements must be verifiable via SUBMITTING A COPY of the transcripts or completed degree/ diploma with your application.

A favorable ANACI (Access National Agency Check and Inquiries) background investigation is required for noncritical sensitive positions with access to network systems.
A qualified typist is required. (This position requires a typing proficiency of at least 40 words per minute; based on a 5 minute sample with 3 or fewer errors.)
In accordance with BUMED INST 6220.9B, this position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is therefore subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations. Applicants tentatively selected for appointment to this position will be required to sign a statement (Condition of employment) consenting to season influenza vaccinations.
