DeKalb Medical Pharmacy Technician III (Lead in Lithonia, Georgia
The Lead Pharmacy Tech will support the pharmacist through expert knowledge and skills in the execution of appropriate, safe, efficient, effective, and cost effective pharmaceutical care in the scope of their assignment. The lead technician will participate will participate in procedural aspects of pharmacy practice under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist, as well as being an integral part of the pharmacy team. At the direction of the Pharmacy Manager or Supervisor, the Lead Pharmacy Tech will provide practical leadership in the supervision and direction of Pharmacy Techs.
The Pharmacy services within the scope of their license, certification, registration, and/or assessed competencies. Practice will be in accordance with laws and regulations.
Help staff in needed areas to meet direct patient care needs.
Directs, coordinates, and participates in orientation, training, and continuing educations of new pharmacy employees and volunteers..
Set up unit inspection schedule for pharmacy employees
Monthly Technician Staff Schedule.
Facilitates in the development and implementation of new projects.
Is competent and effective in technical responsibilities for specified areas required to become a Lead Pharmacy Tech.
Takes ownership of problems by reporting issues to appropriate hospital staff to achieve desired outcome. Involve pharmacy supervisory personnel when necessary to reach goal.
Provides supervision to staff pharmacy technicians under direction of Pharmacy Manager/Supervisor.
Complies with Pharmacy and Dekalb Medical policies and procedures.
Reviews and complies with departmental emails. Department emails should be read per shift.
Volunteer and assist as needed during staffing emergencies and other occurences that may create unusual staffing circumstances.
Maintain safe and clean work environments as set in department policy
Establishes and maintains positive working relationships with all clinical and non-clinical personnel
Performs other duties as assigned to meet the goals and objectives of DeKalb Medical

Minimum Education, Experience and Licensure Required:
Certified Pharmacy Technician (PTCB) required.
Demonstrated supervisory skills
Current registration with the Georgia Board of Pharmacy required
High school diploma (Associates or Bachelor’s degree preferred)
Minimum of three (3) years of hospital pharmacy experience.
Previous experience as a Pharmacy Technician II required.
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Performs skills and competencies as defined in orientation checklist and annual departmental competency checklist where applicable.
Demonstrates and maintains competencies specific to patient population served.
Able to communicate effectively with all levels of personnel within the organization;
Possess strong problem and issue resolution experience
Excellent customer service skills and the ability to effectively work and communicate with staff, patients and their representative.
Reports to: Minimal to maximum supervision from the ED Pharmacist, Manager of Pharmacy Operations, and Manager of Support Services.
Positions Supervised: Moderate to minimal for Pharmacy Students.
