The Clinical Nurse Specialist serves as a clinical expert providing consultation and education in the age-specific (neonate, infant, adolescent, young adult, middle adult) assessment and implementation of care and evaluation of nursing standards of clinical care for the complex, high risk perinatal patient, their infant(s), their families, and staff. Performs patient care for complex procedures, staff and patient education, research consultation, and contributes to approved research projects. Participates in evaluation of new products and development of standards for the complex, high risk perinatal patient, the unborn fetus, and the newborn infant. Collaborates with Patient Care Director, Nurse Manager, Clinical Educator, and Physicians to implement evidence-based best practice at the bedside and ensures staff competency. Coordinates complex patient discharge planning in collaboration with a multidisciplinary healthcare team. Ensures continuum of care needs are taken into consideration. Utilizes interpersonal skills that support excellence in customer service, safe patient care, and professionalism. Contributes to a work environment of caring and cooperation among a culturally diverse workforce and patient population. Perform other duties as assigned. Job Specifications: Master's degree in nursing as a Clinical Nurse Specialist required. Minimum of three years of experience in perinatal nursing (labor & delivery and Mother-Baby) required.California Registered Nurse License and California Clinical Nurse Specialist certification required. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, Neonatal Resuscitation (NRP) certification, and Electronic Fetal Heart Monitoring certification required. AWHONN Fetal Heart Monitoring Instructor and NRP instructor preferred. Valid California Drivers Licensure required._
