The Boeing Company has an exciting opportunity as a Tooling Field Representative for its Commercial Airplanes business. Primary assignments are activities that require an extensive knowledge of the subject and related disciplines.

The candidate must be technically oriented in order to distinguish between difference in best processes, recognizing tool or detail functionally, mapping processes to materials, trouble shooting quality problems on the go, understanding the process constrains and cost inherent with geometric dimensioning and tolerencing callout, understanding the effects coefficients of expansion on materials will have with tolerencing and inspection, effects of machining and welding on material including castings, invar, and etc, interpreting tool drawing, ( design and non-design) intent.

Responsibilities include:

  • Develops solutions to complex problems, which require the regular use of ingenuity and innovation.

  • Contributes to the integration of manufacturing, tooling, and engineering products by developing the sequencing required to support manufacturing and tooling plans.

  • Collaborates with design, research, and manufacturing personnel to provide build perspective for design concepts.

  • Conducts tool feasibility studies, clarifying fit, form, and functional requirements and manufacturing capability and capacity.

  • Diagnoses complicated tooling discrepancies, determining the factors causing the problems and providing resolutions.

  • Reviews incoming work packages, monitors adherence to schedule.

  • Analyzes and compiles supplier performance reports and process improvement data in order to determine and improve overall supplier performance and process capability.

  • Ensure responsiveness to customer requirements and expectation by collaborating with customers to define their requirement; negotiating project and corrective action commitments dates using knowledge of tooling organizational strategies, resources, and priorities; facilitating the resolution of priority and scheduling conflicts between customers and suppliers; preparing and presenting the agree to plan of critical of evens; and answering critical status items.

This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications:

Required Skills:

  • Experience in resolving scheduling conflicts.

  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time.

  • Knowledge of procurement, manufacturing, and inspection systems. Must have working knowledge of tool procurement policies and processes, tooling systems, tool manufacturing and design processes.

  • Must be able to explain tool technology and interpret the technical needs and wants of the customer to upper management.

  • Working knowledge of personal computers, production system, and computer-aided designed systems.

  • Extensive knowledge of engineering drawings, and tooling designs drawings.

  • Requires the ability to multitask, prioritize and meet deadlines in a fast paced environment with strong focus on customer service and satisfaction and understanding delivery.

  • Excellent people skills and a positive and creative thinker.

Desired Skills:

  • Bachelor's and typically 6 or more years' related work experience, a Master's degree and typically 4 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Experience in supplier management, procurement, supply chain, negotiations, industrial engineering or manufacturing engineering.

  • Experience interfacing with suppliers and project management.

  • In-depth knowledge of responsibilities and tasks performed by various Operations department/disciplines.
