Tesoro Retail Franchise Training Manager in Long Beach, California

This professional position will manage a team of functional specialists who design, develop, deliver and evaluate training programs and performance support tools for the various brands that Tesoro operates ensuring the content and delivery method is fit for the Franchise and dealer business. Leverage the current technology infrastructure to address the training and performance support needs of the business by identifying, designing, developing, and implementing systems including: Learning Management System, Knowledge Management System, and Collaboration & Communication tools (Live meeting, Adobe Connect, Sharepoint, etc). The functional areas of training will include but not limited to: Site Systems (POS and Back-Office), ampm Franchise Training, and other Ad Hoc topics requested by the business.


  • Manage and lead the team through all aspects of design, development, delivery and evaluation of curriculum and performance support tools.

  • Identify and coordinate internal and external resources, including vendors that provide learning and development services to achieve curriculum creation.

  • Manage the learning and development budget.

  • Consult with senior management, field operations, and other key stakeholders to ensure alignment of learning and development initiatives with business goals.

  • Maintain knowledge of industry trends and instructional design best practices to provide strategic guidance and benchmarks to the business on learning and development approaches.

  • Accountable for the configuration, testing, integration, deployment, and maintenance of the training & performance support tools and systems.


  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree is required.

  • At least 6 years of related training management experience is required.

  • Specific experience in designing and delivering training is preferred.

  • SKILLS:*

  • Excellent written and communication skills.

  • Technical working knowledge of web, databases, eLearning tools, etc.

  • Instructional design and skillful presentations preferred
