Vantiv Sr. Linux Systems Engineer in Lowell, Massachusetts

This role will be responsible for providing systems and storage support for our core engineering team as well as for our production workloads, daily operations, and systems and storage maintenance.

A successful candidate will be able to prioritize and resolve issues of varying complexity and criticality, think outside of the box, participate in an agile team geared towards continuous improvement, and be an active contributor.


  • Install, configure, and maintain Vantiv's core servers and storage technologies

  • Ensure all necessary operational processes and procedures are carried out with a high level of attention to detail, expediency and on-time delivery

  • Create and maintain system information diagrams and detailed documentation

  • Work as part of an agile team, with the ability to refocus efforts on demand

  • Bring an engineering mindset for revision control, deployment, and testing to your work as a systems engineer

  • Participate in an on-call rotation


  • 3+ years of relevant experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux or equivalent

  • Strong experience working with SAN storage, such as EMC, 3PAR, IBM, Brocade

  • Working knowledge of Unix configuration management, such as Puppet, Chef or Ansible

  • Ability to read and write in one or more scripting languages

  • Experience using an operational ticketing system to record changes and work history details

  • Working knowledge of backup software, backup and recovery strategies and best practices

  • A working understanding of TCP/IP networking and experience with firewalls and load balancers

  • BS in IT, Computer Science, or related field preferred

  • RedHat RHCE or equivalent experience
