About the Agency

This position is for a Coin Manufacturer assigned to the West Point Mint, Office of Production. Duties and responsibilities for this position include a variety of processes used in the making of circulate, uncirculated precious metal gold, silver, platinum and other metals, coins and medals (domestic foreign).
As a Metal Forming Machine Operator (Coin Manufacturer), you will:
Operate various automatic and manual machines and equipment such as packaging,sealing, inspecting, weighing and shipping.
Load and unload hand trucks carrying gold, silver and platinum bars (bullion bars weigh between 30 and 100 pounds), coins, blanks, materials or packaged coins.
Perform tasks associated with robotics, packing, encapsulate, assembly, bin and bulk items,materials, supplies, and equipment using mechanized, automated, and manual material moving supplies, equipment, devices and systems within the production facility.
Must use local personal computer at stations to access email and perform training as required.
Personal protective items such as safety shoes, glasses, gloves, and aprons are mandatory and must be worn with adherence to all safety rules and regulations.

Physical Requirements: Incumbent frequently works with objects weighing up to 60 pounds and on an occasional basis in excess of 100 pounds (bullion bars weigh between 30 to 100 pounds); however, hand trucks, lifts, carts, pallet jacks are available. Required to push, pull, reach, walk, stoop, stand, kneel, bend, carrying of parts, supplies, coins, blanks, trays, packages, tools, etc. Must be able to work in cramped quarters positions for sustained periods of time and have good vision and eye hand foot coordination to perform the full scope of inspecting, cleaning, drying and packaging operations. Work requires sitting and or standing for prolonged periods of time.

Shift Work: This facility operates on a 24 hour per day, three-shift basis. Assignment to a specific shift cannot be guaranteed. The successful applicant must be available to work on all three shifts on a rotational basis.
Wear required safety clothing and/or equipment required by the position. This may include safety shoes, hard hats, hearing protection, gloves, masks, etc.
Pass a pre-employment physical examination.
Salary Range: $14.37 to $16.74 / Per Hour
