We seek a Legal Data Researcher to provide high value legal data coding for cases and create verified gold sets for our algorithms team to utilize. The position will focus on district court cases involving patent, copyright, trademark, and antitrust issues & Patent Trial and Appeals Board proceedings. Using domain knowledge and civil procedure expertise, the Legal Data Analyst will collaborate as a member of the data team to maintain data rigor through quality checks.
Apply the legal data coding schema to recently terminated cases and open cases with significant rulings
Work with the Director of Legal Data and the Legal Data Expert to implement quality checks
Provide domain expertise for making product development decisions
Team member should have knowledge of the major issues and legal doctrines important to intellectual property litigators. A passion for data rigor and an interest in uncovering high value data are critical. Good communication skills via email, video calls and chat are required.
Some of the things we are looking for:
Law degree (e.g. a JD or LLB)
2 years experience analyzing legal data
Experience with SQL or Python
Highly motivated to thoughtfully and efficiently create datasets
