Good Samaritan Health Center in Merrill has a part-time Food Service Attendant II position open. This position is scheduled to work 24 hours/week on a day shift basis. The hours will be 6:30 AM - 1 PM and will work every other weekend from 6 AM - 1 PM. Summary and Purpose:
Under the supervision of the Manager of Nutrition Services, the Food Service Worker II prepares, seasons and cooks food and delivers meals for the Health Center patients, employees, visitors and outside contacts.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 1) Efficiently reviews menus to coordinate with co-workers the types and quantities of food to be ordered and prepared. 2) Demonstrates competency in quality food preparation, tray presentation, and attractive food service to achieve “service excellence”. 3) Demonstrates the knowledge and application of specialized diets in food preparations and portion control. 4) Works effectively and respectfully with co-workers to ensure adequate and timely distribution of all meals or food supplies to appropriate serving areas. 5) Consistently demonstrates high sanitation practices in daily, weekly and quarterly cleaning. 6) Monitors “HACCP” guidelines for food storage, preparation, service and cooling to guarantee food safety. 7) Performs job duties in a professional, courteous manner, working as a team, treating co-workers and customers with respect and compassion that reflects GSHC values. 8) Demonstrates safe working habits and is aware of and adheres to fire, general safety, disaster and infection control policies and procedures. Utilizes ergonomic principles applicable to daily work activities. 9) Consistently participates in department Service Excellence activities and hospital wide activities as appropriate. Is able to articulate service excellence standards and related behavioral norms. Consciously attempts to integrate GSHC’s service standards into daily work activities. Etc. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications: Minimum Education Required : (Alternatively, equivalent education as determined by related years of progressive experience).
High school diploma preferred. Specialized course work in food preparation principals of normal therapeutic nutrition desired.
Minimum Related Years of Experience ( per minimum education ) Required: 2 years experience with food preperation in a health care setting preferred.
Credential/Licensure Required : N/A
Skills Required: Good knowledge of diets and food preparation helpful. Preparation of palatable food while maintaining the proper diet application as directed by the dietician. Able to communicate effectively with others while using tact and discretion. Must have a caring, Christian attitude toward patients, visitors, and employees. Job: Nutrition Services
