CENTER FOR VETERANS ISSUES LTD Reentry Veteran Employment Specialist in MILWAUKEE, Wisconsin

JOB REQUIREMENTS: THIS POSITION IS DEPENDENT UPON BEING AWARDED A GRANT Job Purpose Under the direction of the Employment Training and Education (ETE) Program Manager, the Re-entry Veteran Employment Specialist is responsible for providing comprehensive case management and job readiness services to unemployed incarcerated or recently incarcerated veterans (in HVRP) Program. The goal of the position is to provide supportive services to incarcerated veterans prior to release to ensure successful reintegration to the community. Duties and Responsibilities Establish and maintain working relationships with personnel at partner correctional institutions Collaborate with community corrections officers to identify veterans recently released from penal institutions who meet program eligibility requirements and would benefit from the program Provide in-reach services at partner correctional institutions to include; orientation to program, intake/enrollment, employability assessments, weekly job readiness and career development Conduct assessment interviews with incarcerated veteran participants to include assessing how to translate their military training and experience into civilian job skills Evaluate participant skill sets, barriers to employment and job preparedness needs Provide career guidance to assist veteran in developing short and long term career goals In partnership with the veteran, prepare Individual Employment Plan (IEP) based on veteran's assessment results, skill sets and career goals Collaborate with Wisconsin Department of Corrections parole officers to have project participation incorporated into the eligible veterans programs. Identify occupation specific credentialing requirements and assist veterans in obtaining required credentials and enrolling in occupational skills training programs Develop and conduct individual and group training and counseling sessions / workshops for veterans on resume writing, soft skills training and job preparedness training Collaborate with; local Disabled Veteran's Opportunities Programs (DVOP), Local Veteran Employment Representatives (LVERs), VA staff and other local CBO staff to coordinate service delivery and placement services Collaborate with the ETE Program Manager to assist with employment placement through on-the-job training (OJT), apprenticeship training programs and direct hire placements Refer veterans to CVI Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF), local veteran resources and CBO's and benefit services on an as needed basis Collaborate with CVI SSVF case management staff regarding treatment and housing plans that will support the Individual Employment Plan (IEP) Provide job coaching and retention /follow-up services in accordance with DOL regulations and CVI procedures; maintain individual employment data during established time frame Occasional transportation of veterans to include veterans exiting a DOC facility Enter service case notes and objective outcome data into the appropriate client database system; maintain case files to ensure files have all required documents in accordance with CVI and DOL regulations Prepare reports and attend meetings Other duties as requested or assigned ***** OTHER EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Social Services or Career Counseling, Criminal Justice/Psychology/ Human Services with of two years' experience in performing the above duties and responsibilities or Associate's degree in Social Work, Social Services or Career Counseling, Criminal Justice/Psychology/ Human Services with three years' experience in performing the above duties and responsibilities Experience delivering services to SUD, COD, homeless and incarcerated/recently released populations with multiple needs or barriers Strong knowledge of computers, spreadsheets and database programs Experience working with Veterans is preferred ***** APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS: E-Mail a Rsum: edward.pankow@cvi
