Job SummaryUnder Pharmacist supervision, the pharmacy technician is primarily responsible for filling and verifying drug and prescription orders in compliance packaging. The pharmacy technician prepares compliance and unit dose packaging of various drugs in a highly automated, industrial setting and checks the contents of the compliance packaging for accuracy. In addition, the pharmacy technician will perform routine support functions for the Central Fill Pharmacy. This position requires knowledge of pharmacy operations and computer systems, customer service practices and the ability to independently perform a full range of clerical/administrative support functions in an accurate and timely manner. REPORTS TO:Pharmacy ManagerSpecific Responsibilities:Specific Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:1. Verifies drug and prescription orders using computer screens/barcodes and visual means as a regulated pharmacy technician with the Ontario College of Pharmacists. 2. Processes drug and prescription orders using automated technology and manual assembly when required.3. Operates computer automated machinery and related equipment in a continuous production operation to fill and pack drug and prescription orders.4. Performs restocking of automated dispensing systems.5. Examines quality of product and materials.6. Documents all information required, i.e. production records, for Quality Control purposes.7. Sort drug and prescription orders to ensure delivery to proper locations.8. Prepare shipping and invoicing documents.9. Assists with inventory control which includes ordering, maintaining and organizing appropriate inventory and packaging supplies to support dispensing activities.10. Performs receiving and stocking of incoming inventory and supplies.11. Conducts inventory audit counts.12. Assists with orientation of newly hired pharmacy personnel.13. Assists the pharmacists, as needed, to assure productivity and operational efficiencies.14. Maintains effective communication and working relationship with clients at all levels of the organization and business contacts.15. Attends and participates in staff meetings as required.16. Performs other duties and special projects as required.

Participates in quality, self-review activities to improve personal performance and to identify personal and professional developmental requirements.3. Demonstrates and promotes compliance with all program specific performance metrics.6. Participates in continuing education sessions as required. QualificationsRequirementsEssential:1. Registered Technician with the Ontario College of Pharmacists (please provide OCP License # on your application/resume).2. Work experience as a pharmacy technician/pharmacy assistant for 3-5 years.3. College Diploma, University Graduate (B.Sc.) or 5-10 years related work experience. 4. The ability to plan, coordinate, direct and evaluate operational activities in a complex and busy environment.5. Consistently acts in a professional manner.6. Excellent organizational skills with ability to set priorities and creatively solve problems.7. Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.8. Demonstrated success in working effectively and collaboratively within a team environment.9. Ability to function in a fast-paced, continually changing and results-oriented environment.10. Ability to identify and resolve problems. 11. Exceptional attention to detail and organization skills. 12. Good understanding of MS software (Outlook, Word, PPT & Excel) Preferred:1. Graduate of a CCAPP or ACPE accredited pharmacy technician education program.2. Experience in a centralized prescription processing environment. 3. Experience in launching new pharmacy programs and/or opening a new pharmacy is an asset.4. Familiarity with compliance packaging automation benefits, limitations and interdependencies.5. Previous experience with pharmacy automation.6.
