The Environmental Specialist will be a partner in the development and implementation of strategic programs aimed at ensuring environmental compliance throughout the organization.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in EPA regulations, workplace environmental inspections and issues, hazardous wastes and pollutants, and compliance with the various government environmental agencies.

Develop policies, programs and procedures that promote environmental standards in the workplace.
Prepare and submit a variety of regulatory filings including Air, SPCC, Storm Water, and Waste ID.
Work jointly with various teams and Human Resource stakeholders to develop and implement environmental related education, accountability, coaching and support.
Remain current and familiar with existing and emerging regulations that affect the business processes.
Ensure appropriate risk assessments are conducted and corresponding follow-ups are implemented in each functional area to minimize and/or eliminate accidents, asset losses, and environmental issues.
Audit environmental performance and compliance with policies, programs, and procedures. When needed, coordinate and track corrective action plans.
When needed, interfaces with regulatory agencies and if required, partners with the Legal Department to develop responses.
May be called upon to assist with Safety related projects as directed by the Safety and Environmental Manager.

The ideal candidate will have graduated from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in a technical field such as Science and Engineering or related field.
Must have at least five years of progressively responsible experience in an environmental role; or equivalent education and/or experience.
A Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) certification is preferred; or the willingness to obtain such certifications within the first 18 months of employment.
Extensive air and car travel in multiple regions of the country, with overnight travel 25-50%.
Must possess a working knowledge safety, security and environmental theories, principles and practices.
Must have strong attention to detail and organizational acumen to manage multiple projects and priorities.
