This position is responsible for troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing all equipment and company assets while maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to Tyson policies and procedures.


Diagnose failures of vehicles and disassemble, repair and reassemble parts as necessary. Perform preventative maintenance on vehicles. Must be able to drive tractors with or without trailers into and out of the Truck Shop and on the grounds. Maintain vehicle records as required, both on paper and computerized. Maintain and repair all fleet equipment. Fill out all necessary documents legibly. Maintain D.O.T. records daily. Communicate with drivers to diagnose malfunction. Clean up tools, parts and the truck shop including spills. Maintain compliance with OSHA, D.O.T and EPA regulations. Must have a valid license to drive. Must have own hand tools (sets of wrenches, sockets, pliers and screw drivers). Must be able to read and understand service manuals. Must be able to repair heavy duty trucks (tractor-trailers, brakes, tires, engines for 18 wheelers). Must be able to repair forklifts. Other duties as assigned by supervisor.


Have own hand tools (see list for details Sets of Wrenches, Sockets, Pliers Screw Drivers, Will allow 6 months to acquire) must not have been terminated from Tyson in the past for the following attendance, unsatisfactory probationary period, job abandonment, safety, rules of conduct, gross misconduct, walked off the job. PREFERRED EXPERIENCE Repairing heavy trucks (Working on tractor-trailers, brakes, tires, engines for 18 wheelers) repairing forklifts (for example, repairing propane fuel systems, hydraulic systems) working with computer instrumentation (for example, using desktop computers, hand-held computers, laptop computers, performing diagnostics with computers, or conducting preventative maintenance and executing work orders)
