Rail Control Solutions (RCS) is Bombardier Transportation’s signaling division. RCS is focused on optimizing the flow of trains and delivering innovative signaling systems which enable the safe and efficient operation of rail networks and trains.

The Project Engineer will be responsible for overseeing design, delivery, and set up of the Positive Train Control (PTC) Office Subsystem for the Long Island and Metro North Railroad project. You will lead a global project team of developers and engineers, and be a primary customer point of contact for the subsystem.

In your role you will:

  • Oversee subsystem design and delivery;

  • Liaise with the customer to define technical requirements;

  • Manage requirements, design, and architecture;

  • Lead product and application development for subsystem interfaces;

  • Lead design reviews to ensure proper subsystem interface and integration;

  • Coordinate the efforts of cross-functional project delivery teams;

  • Provide technical leadership and direction to engineers and programmers within the team, ensuring adherence to engineering processes and project objectives;

  • Monitor and ensure consistent project delivery that meets customer’s budgets, schedule, quality standards, and expectations.


As our ideal candidate:

  • You hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline; a Master’s degree will be considered an asset;

  • You possess approximately ten (10) years of project experience related to the design of vital software control systems;

  • You demonstrate a proven track record of successful project oversight;

  • You understand computer system analysis, database design and communications, and system networking and integration;

  • You possess experience leading project engineering teams;

  • You can operate independently while establishing strong working relationships with co-workers and cross-functional teams;

  • You possess strong organizational and prioritization skills;

  • You demonstrate critical attention to detail and deadlines, and are self-motivated;

  • You possess the ability to adapt well to change in direction and priorities in a project and deadline-oriented environment;

  • Your written and verbal English communication skills are excellent.
