VP, Procurement – Indirect & Regional


The VP Procurement – Indirect & Regional will report to the CPO and is based in Dayton OH, Raleigh NC, Alpharetta GA, New York City, London, or other key Company location as warranted.

Required Skills

Functional Leadership . Provide overall leadership to the global indirect sourcing and procurement function, as well as regional resources focused on local, in-country support for Europe, Asia-Pacific, and Latin America across all indirect and technology spend areas. Responsible for: developing and leading a team of sourcing professionals, category strategy development and implementation; operating plans and budgets; identifying and executing value generation initiatives; relevant policies, procedures, systems, and programs including Corporate Travel & Meetings, Corporate Cards, and Procurement Cards; and reporting/communications with business units and senior management including development of insightful analytics to support improved cost management and business decisions. Actively participate in the senior leadership team to drive a strategic procurement culture across the organization.

Strategic Sourcing . Prioritize and execute an evolving portfolio of strategic sourcing and category management initiatives to drive savings, create value, and support business unit objectives and goals of the organization. Work with business leaders to develop and agree a comprehensive approach to sourcing and managing relevant areas of spend. Assess external market trends and conditions to identify opportunities and risks in spend categories. Structure analysis of spend to enable informed decision‐making and drive discussions with key stakeholders. Ensure sourcing efforts leverage market intelligence, TCO analysis, and e-Sourcing techniques & tools.

Contract Management . Develop/negotiate/manage contracts reflecting the results of sourcing initiatives including achievement of key terms. Manage market and supply risks with appropriate legal terms and conditions. Manage the contract approval and exception processes. Educate end users about new contracts; track and ensure compliance.

Supplier Relationship Management . Establish and implement effective supplier relationship management practices. Implement procedures for reviewing supplier performance against contracted obligations/service levels and business expectations. Ensure procurement team anticipates and minimizes performance issues via creation, monitoring, and reporting of key performance indicators (KPIs) in conjunction with the business. When performance issues emerge, identify root causes and drive to efficient resolution by working across both internal and external stakeholders.

Procurement Operations . Provide guidance to the transactional procurement team relative to indirect purchases. Review and update P2P procedures as required to ensure benefits of supplier agreements are achieved; promote compliance with the same. Ensure process integrity through compliance with internal policies and controls (e.g., financial schedules). Ensure compliance to the laws, regulations, and ethical standards set by the Company and government authorities. Drive the use of procurement tools as needed. Manage team directly responsible for successful operation of travel, meetings, & card programs (T&E p-card) for the enterprise, including implementation of best practices and continuous process improvements/efficiencies.

Reporting & Intelligence . Provide regular intelligence to stakeholders regarding spend profile & drivers, savings opportunities/results, and risk mitigation activities. Leverage interactions with external marketplace to provide insights to BU stakeholders regarding pricing, vendor, and indirect market trends. Leverage business intelligence to assist the business in planning. Develop and implement reporting to drive maximum benefit from travel, meetings, & card programs.

Required Experience

The ideal candidate will possess : (1) significant experience leading strategic sourcing and procurement operations, preferably in a data information services or related environment; (2) demonstrated success leading an organizational transformation involving the integration of processes, systems, and suppliers; (3) a proven track record of delivering distinctive commercial results across spend categories, especially in travel, marketing, consulting, contingent labor, training, recruitment and other professional services.

Key Attributes

15 years of strategic sourcing and supplier management experience, and 7 years leading strategic sourcing and procurement operations teams.

Excellent sourcing and category management skills in a variety of spend areas, particularly travel, marketing, consulting, contingent labor, training, recruitment and other professional services.

A natural change agent possessing the strategic and analytical skills needed to drive organizational transformation; communicates openly and builds consensus with stakeholders; collaborative with strong influencing skills; proven ability to effectively work across multiple cultures & geographies to drive business results; demonstrated ability to develop and lead a team of professionals in a virtual environment.

Demonstrated success in managing internal customers; skilled at developing stakeholder relationships and effective communications for input and alignment.

Comprehensive experience formulating and executing corporate and business unit sourcing and negotiation strategies; expert understanding of purchasing policies, procedures, practices, and the value and use of technology enablers/data systems; track record of year‐over‐year delivery of distinctive value from strategic sourcing/supplier management activities.

Excellent communication skills, including written, verbal and presentation skills; comfortable and credible with both internal stakeholders and external audiences.

Excellent negotiation skills up to the executive level; understanding of contract negotiation, development, and law; extensive knowledge of risk‐management strategies.

Expert level financial, quantitative, and analytical skills.
