PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY ROOM TECHNICIAN FULL-TIME NIGHTS Job Number: 3457Category: Behavioral and Mental HealthLocation: Newark, NJ The Psychiatric Emergency Department Technician (PEDT) is an individual who assists the health care professionals in the delivery of care to patients. Possesses the ability to collect, assess or retrieve data reflective of the patient's status relative to his/her age. Interprets and evaluates the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's needs and requirements relative to patient outcome. The PEDT provides care under the direction of the Registered Nurse utilizing the skills and techniques established within job requirements. At least one year patient care experience.Maintains required BLS Health Care Provider course completion and successful completion of all Orientation Programs to include BEST Training.Meets requirements as defined by applicable Department Specific Orientation Checklist, equipment including EKG machine, glucometer, and vital sign machine.Work Environment and Hazards: Works in a well lighted office area. Participate in crisis de-escalation and restraint. Hazards include risk of exposure to communicable disease, risk of physical injury, operation of equipment, and hazardous chemicals.ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Minimum one (1) year patient care experience in acute care, ambulatory care or physicians office setting. Behavioral Health experience preferred Emergency Department Technician experience preferred BLS Health Care Provider Certification required Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with members of the Team Excellent written and verbal communication skills Excellent organizational and time management skills Successful completion of all Orientation programs NBIMC is an EOE.
