Position Responsibilities\Requirements:

FIS Global is seeking a Development Manager/Scrum Master in Norcross, GA or Charlotte, NC.

Position Summary

This role is directly responsible for managing a team of developers and business analysts to implement the software and solution required for our customers. This person will report to an engagement manager/senior project manager that manages the relationship with a large scale customer such as a top five bank or clearing house. This role is also be customer facing, but will have primary responsibility for working with the developers and core R&D team at FIS to ensure delivery. Direct responsibility for the project plan and manage all phases of the software development life cycle (Inception, Elaboration, Construction, and Transition).

The qualified candidate for this position will have:

  • Successfully managed software projects and delivered software solutions internally or to external clients

  • Experience with transaction based/end to end systems development primarily focused in the financial services industry

  • Achieved success in a consulting-like environment or software company

Essential Responsibilities

  • Act as the direct manager of developers and business analysts for a software development team delivering solutions to financial service customers

  • Own and manage a project plan for this delivery team

  • Establish goals for the team, provide feedback and coaching, and evaluate goals over time

  • Hire new development team members as necessary

  • Manage employee performance issues as necessary

  • Provide status updates and issues to senior management on a weekly basis

  • Assign priorities and manage bugs against release criteria to release the software on schedule

  • Work with Quality Assurance to ensure complete test coverage of customizations to the core applications

  • Maintain knowledge transfer through Wiki and other mechanisms

  • Project administration, including time tracking and expense management


Travel is a required element of this position and is anticipated to average 35% per month. However,there may be periods of time when the travel exceeds this estimate.

Education, Experience and Other Qualifications


Requires a Bachelor or Master’s degree.


  • Requires 10 years or more of experience in software development and seven or more years management or supervisory experience.

  • Requires management of multiple projects throughout the full lifecycle of inception to transition

  • Requires 5+ years of experience working with software development teams

  • Requires 3+ years of experience managing a software development team

  • Requires experience with software development methodologies such as the Rational Unified Process (RUP), eXtreme Programming (XP), Scrum, and OpenUP.

  • Financial services experience with payments knowledge (ACH, Wire, Swift) is desired

  • Familiarity with J2EE, service oriented architecture, and Internet distributed technologies desired

  • Early career experience as a developer/architect on J2EE projects dealing with large scale distributed systems
