JetBlue Airways Instructional Designer in Orlando, Florida

Position Summary

The Instructional Designer designs educational programs that will address the needs of Inflight and System Operations Center (SOC) Crewmembers, while fulfilling Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) requirements for regulatory and non-regulatory training programs. The Instructional Designer also designs eLearning, video solutions, and other instructional solutions for JetBlue University, as well as, supports corporate learning solution initiatives. The Instructional Designer partners with Business Partners, Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and designated leads using consulting skills to perform needs analysis, select the right delivery option(s), design the solution, and support corporate-wide training initiatives.

Essential Responsibilities

• Works as an instructional design consultant with Leadership, JBU colleges, SMEs (Subject Matter Experts), project leads, and Business Partners for training needs during all phases of learning solution development

• Partners with the other Learning Design peers to effectively contribute to all phases including content development, release, support, evaluation and revision cycle

• Works independently, with SMEs, or with guidance from peers or Leadership to design educational programs in multiple delivery platforms as assigned, including but not limited to: rapid-development, video, eLearning and classroom training

• Works within guidelines and recommendations for process and procedure related to Instructional Design

• Provides quality assurance on developed content, pending project size, type, and criticality

• Works with Leadership and peers to design, support, and maintain strategic initiatives including but not limited to: program evaluation, course maintenance, and process documentation

• Keeps abreast of new and developing trends in training and adult learning and applies them to Learning Design initiatives

• Other duties as assigned

Minimum Experience and Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Instructional Design or related discipline

• One (1) year experience with adult learning, instructional design, professional development, curriculum development or performance improvement experience

• Experience consulting with clients to determine the best instructional solutions and/or strategies

• Ability to research, analyze, and synthesize information/data and provide recommendations for designing learning solutions

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Proficient with Microsoft Office suite

• Available for occasional overnight travel (25%)

• Must pass a ten (10) year background check and pre-employment drug test

• Must be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located

Preferred Experience and Qualifications

• Prior Airline industry experience

• Three (3) years’ experience with adult learning, instructional design, professional development, curriculum development or performance improvement experience

• Experience working in learning development tools, such as Articulate Studio or Storyline

• Proficient with SharePoint

• Ability to work well with others as part of a team

• Agile and flexible to contribute to multiple project types simultaneously

• Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously

• Ability to work well under pressure, meet deadlines and adapt to changing information quickly

Crewmember Expectations:

• Regular attendance and punctuality

• Potential need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short-notice

• Well groomed and able to maintain a professional appearance

• When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft
