Hard Rock International Steward in PALM SPRINGS, California

The Steward is responsible for maintaining kitchen work areas and food & beverage equipment and utensils in clean and orderly condition. The Steward is a vital support to many departments of the hotel, in ensuring the supplies and tools are ready and available to serve the guests.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1 Scrape food from dirty dishes and wash them by hand or place them in racks or on conveyor to dishwashing machine.

2 Wash pots, pans, and trays.

3 Sweep and mop kitchen floors.

4 Wash worktables, walls, refrigerators, and meat blocks.

5 Segregate and remove trash and garbage and place it in designated containers.

6 Steam clean or hose out garbage cans.

7 Transfer supplies and equipment between storage and work areas.

8 Load or unload trucks picking up or delivering supplies and food.

9 Assist chefs with dish-up meals as needed

10 Polish any silver or plate ware as needed.

11 Maintain established cleaning schedule of kitchen and storage areas so that they are presentable at all times.

12 Ensure all dirty linens are retrieved; sort linens for washing.

13 Remove all trash from the kitchen and place in dumpsters.

14 Participate in ‘deep clean’ and ‘preventive maintenance’ programs.

15 Maintain presence during peak traffic periods.

16 Communicate with other employees to ensure that Guest and employee requests and issues are addressed as needed.

17 Maintain proper control of keys and electronic key cards.

18 Report any hazards, damage, or needed repairs.

19 Monitor and control product, supply and labor costs using established methods to meet goals.

20 Work with Kitchen Manager(s) regarding hotel business to keep them informed.

OTHER FUNCTIONS

1 Maintain effective communication with all staff provide recognition to others.

2 Participate in meetings with staff to learn about incentive programs, new products and procedures, special events, etc.

3 Ensure a healthy and safe work environment for co-workers and Guests.

4 Resolve Guest complaints using hotel procedures.

5 Create a positive environment in which all employees have the ability to maximize their potential.

6 Listen to comments, criticisms, and feedback from Guests, employees and managers to gain an understanding of strength and opportunity to improve personal/hotel performance.

7 Work as a team, helping all employees to complete the required activities that ensure we blow away Guest expectations.

8 Participate in Sound Check meetings on each shift.

9 Always smile and offer a warm greeting to all.

10 Present a professional image to employees, Guests, and clients of the hotel.

11 Give input for Guest history records to enhance personalized service for repeat Guests.

12 Know, understand, and practice (with energy and enthusiasm) the mission, values, mottos, culture and spirit that make Hard Rock Hotels unique.

13 Be available to provide Kick-Ass Service and take initiative to offer assistance throughout the hotel.

14 Operate ethically to protect the image of Hard Rock.

15 Utilize programs designed to help Save the Planet.

16 Perform duties in accordance with company standards, policies, and guidelines, Federal and State Regulations.

17 Perform additional duties as requested by Kitchen Manager(s).

MINIMUM

1 High school degree preferred and/or previous work experience in service for at least 1 year.

2 Ability to effectively deal with internal customers and staff, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact, and diplomacy.

3 Perform numerical operations using basic counting, adding, subtracting, multiplying or dividing.

4 Formulate and apply appropriate course of action for routine or familiar situations.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

1 Comprehend and use basic language, either written or spoken, to communicate information and ideas.

2 Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.

3 Multiple language abilities preferred, basic English required.

PHYSICAL

1 Ability to move throughout the hotel (standing, walking, kneeling, bending) for extended periods of time.

2 Ability to make repeating movements of the arms, hands, and wrists.
