Automation Engineer / PLC Programmer (Job Number: 009843W-01)


As an engineer in Genencor's Operations group, you will play an integral role in supporting the research and development of our new biotechnology products. This position will have the focus of developing software applications which support our research and process development labs.

Responsibilities will include both system administration and application programming for the following: SCADA system, Excel macros for interfacing with Oracle database, OSI PI data historian, and Spotfire. System administration experience with Windows Server 2003, 2008 and 2012 would be useful. Ability to program applications using Excel VBA and SQL language to interface with Oracle and PI is essential. SCADA system programming uses Python and Java.

Knowledge of process control or chemical engineering is desirable.

  • Bachelors degree and relevant work experience in an analytical laboratory or a pilot plant is desired

  • Experience with managing systems for real time, continuous data acquisition from equipment and from user inputs

  • Strong computer programming skills in Python

  • Strong skills using a relational database, preferably Oracle

  • Experience with VBA Coding for MS Excel

  • Experience with HMI & SCADA systems, preferably Ignition

  • Experience with OPC Servers and Tunneller configuration

  • Using Business Intelligence tools, such as Tableau or Spotfire, to build dashboards, data mining views, and reports.
