Senior Software Development Engineer - Geosearch
A9.com, the search technology subsidiary of Amazon.com, is looking for a highly skilled and motivated engineer interested in driving the design, implementation and deployment of high performance systems that power search for Amazon’s Digital Products’ mapping and location services. You will enjoy A9’s small-company environment, but have access to the resources of Amazon.com, one of the world''s leading Internet companies. Besides possessing strong software engineering skills, you must be a technical leader with innovative thinking, and communication skills.
Requirements:
* Advanced degree in computer science or related field, (PhD a plus)
* At least 3 years hands-on experience with large-scale geographic, location and mapping technologies
* Strong verbal and written communications skills, as well as the ability to work effectively across internal and external organizations
* Designing large scale, high performance, distributed systems
* Ability to design reliable, maintainable code in C/C++, and Java. Familiarity with Python a plus
* A firm understanding of basic OS principles, UNIX, Web technologies, and systems programming
* A passion for innovation and raising the bar in teams, technology and projects
Domain expertise in one or more of the following fields preferred:
* Information Retrieval
* Data Mining
* Machine Learning
* Computational Linguistics
