Position Description

Job Summary:

The Manager, Revenue Accounting supports the monthly and quarterly Gross-to-Net financial closing process ensuring compliance with GAAP and SOX requirements. This position is responsible for the coordination, preparation, review and analysis of journal entries supporting all U.S. pharmaceutical sales deductions which total approximately $5 billion on an annual basis. Position is responsible for analysis and review of the P&L and Balance Sheet for revenue deduction and sales allowance related accounts including but not limited to Commercial Rebates, Medicare Part D Rebates, Chargebacks, Medicaid, Coverage Gap, Distributor Service Fees, Returns and Coupon / Co-pay Programs.

The Manager, Revenue Accounting works cross-functionally with internal colleagues in Commercial Finance, Marketing, Managed Markets, Contracting, Customer Service, Accounts Receivable, Corporate Finance, Corporate Audits and Information Systems. Additionally, Position interacts directly with Allergan’s external auditors to facilitate quarterly reviews and alliance partners to fulfill contractual billing and reporting obligations.

The Manager, Revenue Accounting is responsible for developing policies, procedures and work plans to support the operational efficiency and financial controls of the Gross-to-Net closing process.

Position Responsibilities:

Financial Closing Process:

Manager is responsible for developing and maintaining the Gross-to-Net Rate tables by product and segment which inform Daily Sales Reporting and support accrual calculations. Manager is responsible for calculating and booking all sales provision requirements and any related prior period adjustments for sales allowances. The Manager must maintain an inventory of all monthly and quarterly journal entries and all documentation to support SOX and audit requirements.

Balance Sheet Analysis:

Manager is responsible for performing in-depth analysis to support Balance Sheet reserves on a quarterly basis. Manager is responsible for the Gross-to-Net Balance Sheet account reconciliations which include payment reconciliation from source system to SAP. Utilizing accrual information and payment reconciliations, Manager develops roll-forward schedules for each sales reserve account to facilitate balance sheet tracking by product and segment. Manager is responsible for providing all necessary documentation and analysis to Corporate Finance and External Auditors in connection with the quarterly review of Gross-to-Net sales reserves.

Reporting & Analysis:

Manager is responsible for developing and issuing monthly, quarterly and year-to-date reporting in support of Gross-to-Net analysis. Manager is responsible for preparing “Actual versus LE” reporting by product to Commercial and Finance teams which serve as the basis for subsequent Gross-to-Net forecasts.

Process & Systems:

Manager will work on projects and initiatives related to process improvement and operational efficiencies including but not limited to driving automation where possible. Manager is responsible for maintaining and updating SOX narratives and documentation as required.


Minimum Requirements:

  • 7+ years of related work experience

  • BA / BS in accounting; MBA preferred

  • CPA required

  • Ability to travel as needed

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Understanding of pharmaceutical industry, product flow and reimbursement

  • Understanding of pharmaceutical pricing and contracting and related rebate administration and chargeback payment processes

  • Proficient in most Microsoft applications with advanced EXCEL skills

  • Experience working with and knowledge of SAP, Pharmaceutical Revenue Management Systems

  • Excellent analytical skills and interest in identifying root cause of complex issues

  • Strong communication, organizational, and communication skills; Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and meet timelines; Demonstrated attention to detail
