Robert Half Finance & Accounting Cost Accounting Manager in PHILADELPHIA, Pennsylvania

This is a newly created position that is going to report directly to the CFO. This person is responsible for the accurate monthly costing and accounting of project related financial data, as well as understanding all financial aspects of a project while working together with the project team to ensure maximum profit with minimum risk. This includes, but is not limited to cost reporting and analysis, contract and policy compliance and project status report submission. This position is also responsible for initiating, proofing, reconciling and recording client billing using the ERP system. For immediate consideration please send your resume in word form to 1. Develop, analyze, interpret and provide internal distribution of financial information in order to appraise operating results in terms of profitability and performance against budget. 2. Provide services as an "internal auditor" to ensure financial integrity. 3. Analyze and update all costing rates on a semi-annual basis including updating them in the ERP system. 4. Assist the project management team with all of the aspects of project accounting from contract award through project completion. 5. Assist the Project Manager in developing the project budget from the final bid or estimate. 6. Assist the Project Manager in the identification and assessment of financial risks. 7. Assist Project Manager with planning, coordination and administering cost tracking and client billing processes onsite. 8. Analyze project actual, committed and planned costs on a very detailed basis to assess the appropriate Estimate at Completion (EAC). 9. Assist the Project Manager with detailed and well documented forecasts of costs, revenue and cash flow. 10. Monitor project budgets and projections in the job cost module of the ERP system. 11. Work with the Project Manager to enter and monitor all approved contract change orders and budget revisions within the ERP system. 12. Work closely with the Project Manager in preparing client billing for work performed. 13. Coordinate completion of invoice package containing draft and final invoices for all billable projects, including all applicable backup for approval by the Project Manager. 14. Verify and reconcile accurate project costs and revenue. 15. Research any unbilled WIP inventory to optimize the billing possibilities for the billing period. 16. Work with Cash Receipts team member to reconcile variances that occur in the application of client payments. 17. Develop and maintain positive relations with the project teams and back office support personnel. 18. Assist with the enforcement of company policies and procedures, and adhering to federal, state and local regulations during the execution of Company business. 19. Assist with the documentation of company policies and procedures as they relate to the position. 20. Assist with document management and record retention from project startup to closeout.

Requirements: Keys: BS degree in Accounting CMA is a plus 5+ years accounting experience, preferably in a "job shop" environment, but not a must Cost Accounting. Financial Analysis Understanding of various contract types (Cost Plus, Fixed Price, T&M;, etc). Understanding of contract clauses that may impact profitability, i.e. scope of work, quantity adjustments, change requirements, billing requirements, etc. to help ensure the Company does not perform work outside the scope of the contract without proper authorization or entitlement.
