The Project Management and Planning Director will be responsible for providing an advanced level of project management support to improve efficiencies, drive initiatives/timelines/communication plans, and leverage innovation related to strategic development and scientific/clinical review of resources and tools for the field-based medicine/MSL teams in the US and global regions. Additional responsibilities include providing expanded planning and initiative support for scientific training, competency assessment and ongoing development that can be leveraged across global CMO.
Scientific Communications (SciComm) Support: Critically evaluates all processes and systems managed by SciComm related to MSL scientific resources and tools to identify areas of improvement related to efficiencies and enables the same via effective project planning, multidisciplinary internal/external team coordination, process facilitation and communication. Creates, coordinates and maintains an integrated project plan called the Global Scientific Communications Strategy Plan document in collaboration with the SciComm team and leads efforts to Identify, communicate and monitor the critical path of the project (key areas include global scientific training, field resources, and strategic insight initiatives). Works with Global Director and SC Insights to develop the plan and process related to ongoing analysis and communication of Strategic Insights reporting, and spearheads the process to ensure MSL training and field resource content is informed based on report feedback related to the medical strategy as well as identified needs in the field. Manages the overall review cycle process for materials and training to ensure routine review/updates are conducted in a timely manner and revisions are communicated to key stakeholders accordingly. Prepares monthly project status reports and other project updates or reviews needed by the SciComm team.
Global Medical Excellence Support: Critically evaluates all processes and systems managed by Global Medical Excellence to identify areas of improvement related to efficiencies and enables the same via effective project planning, multidisciplinary internal/external team coordination, process facilitation and communication.
Creates, coordinates and maintains an integrated project plan in collaboration with the Global Medical Excellence team and leads efforts to Identify, communicate and monitor the critical path of the project (key areas include scientific advisory board, medical congress and product launch initiatives). Works with Executive Director and SC Insights to develop communication plans and processes related to MSL Activity reporting to ensure key metrics and critical meaningful information is communicated in an effective and timely manner to key internal stakeholders. Prepares monthly project status reports and other project updates or reviews needed by the Global Medical Excellence team
Education: Advanced degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences or a related field required
Experience: at least 8 years of pharmaceutical industry experience in Medical Affairs/Clinical
Development areas including previous active participation in a multidisciplinary team is required; direct experience in Project Management required, clinical experience or field-based medicine experience preferred
Licensure/Credentials: R.Ph., PharmD., Ph.D., R.N., desirable; Project Management certification strongly preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Project management experience in the pharmaceutical/device industry and a thorough understanding and track record of effective application of project management tools and techniques required; knowledge of Pharma regulatory and compliance guidelines preferred
Excellent written, oral, and presentation skills and creative and strategic thinking
The ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and interface in a dynamic environment across departments
Advanced PowerPoint skills
Strong Excel knowledge and proficiency with complex spreadsheets
Proficiency in Project Management-specific software/resource tools
