AREVA is dedicated to the design and construction of nuclear power plants and research reactors, instrumentation and control, modernization and maintenance services, components manufacture and the supply of nuclear fuel.
The Plant Engineering, Technical Support and Maintenance Department supports manufacturing of nuclear fuel. It consists of three teams; Mechanical/Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Software Engineering. The candidate would be part of the Mechanical/Chemical Engineering Team.

*AREVA is looking for a Chemical Engineer for it's office in Richland, WA location. *The identified candidate will support design, construction, and commissioning of a new chemical processing facility. The desired candidate will have relevant knowledge and experience with various aspects of project design and construction of similar facilities.
In addition, the candidate would learn existing plant systems and support improvement projects and maintenance activities at a facility with highly automated chemical, sintering, and assembly equipment.
Primary responsibilities will include: *
Receives minimal assistance and instruction on assignments and solutions.
Ensures compliance with engineering standards.
Independently evaluates, selects and applies a variety of technical techniques, procedures, and criteria using judgment in making more complex adaptations and modifications.
Researches and assesses best practices, proposing methods and improvements.
Performs other related duties and tasks, as required.
All candidates must meet the following minimum requirements in order to be considered for this opportunity. Candidates who exceed minimum qualifications may be considered for a higher level position.
Engineer II- BS in Chemical Engineering PLUS 2-3 years of experience as a Chemical Engineer with demonstrated increasing responsibilities.
Engineer III- BS in Chemical Engineering PLUS 3-5 years of experience as a Chemical Engineer with demonstrated increasing responsibilities.
Engineer IV- BS in Chemical Engineering PLUS 5-7 years of experience as a Chemical Engineer with demonstrated increasing responsibilities.
Experience implementing projects from Conceptual Design to Commissioning and Production.
Excellent communications skills.
Team player, ability to function and interact well in a multi various disciplined teams.
Organization, ability to manage workload schedules and competing priorities.
Able to direct field crews with installation and testing of equipment.
The following requirements are desired and will be used to differentiate all candidates who apply for this position. *
Develop Process Flow Diagrams and Process & Instrumentation Diagrams
Design, specification and procurement of the following unit processes:
o Solvent extraction mixer/settlers
o Piping systems and fluid dynamics.
o Rotary drum vacuum filters
o Filter presses
o NOx scrubbing systems
Domestic/International travel - 2%. Minimal travel for training or plant visits to Europe.
