AREVA is dedicated to the design and construction of nuclear power plants and research reactors, instrumentation and control, modernization and maintenance services, components manufacture and the supply of nuclear fuel.

The Plant Engineering, Technical Support and Maintenance Department supports manufacturing of nuclear fuel. It consists of three teams; Mechanical/Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Software Engineering. The candidate would be part of the Electrical Engineering Team.

*AREVA is looking for an Mechanical Engineer for our Richland, WA location. *The identified candidate will support design, construction, and commissioning of a new chemical processing facility. The desired candidate will have relevant knowledge and experience with various aspects of project design and construction of similar facilities.

In addition, the candidate would learn existing plant systems and support improvement projects and maintenance activities at a facility with highly automated chemical, sintering, and assembly equipment.

  • Primary responsibilities will include: *

  • Performs a variety of more complex engineering assignments typically in areas of electrical design, development, analysis, evaluation, testing, preparation of specifications, execution of field tasks, and resolution of field problems.

  • Receives minimal assistance and instruction on assignments and solutions.

  • Ensures compliance with engineering standards.

  • Independently evaluates, selects and applies a variety of technical techniques, procedures, and criteria using judgment in making more complex adaptations and modifications.

  • Researches and assesses best practices, proposing methods and improvements.

  • Works on special projects, as directed.

  • Performs other related duties and tasks, as required.

All candidates must meet the following minimum requirements in order to be considered for this opportunity. Candidates who exceed minimum qualifications may be considered for a higher level position.

  • Engineer II- BS in Electrical Engineering PLUS 2-3 years of engineering experience. An advanced degree may be substituted for related exp. ( MS 1-2 yrs. or PhD 1-3 yrs.).

  • Engineer III- BS in Electrical Engineering PLUS 3-5 years of engineering experience. An advanced degree may be substituted for related exp. ( MS 1-2 yrs. or PhD 1-3 yrs.).

  • Engineer IV- BS in Electrical Engineering PLUS 5-7 years of engineering experience. An advanced degree may be substituted for related exp. ( MS 1-2 yrs. or PhD 1-3 yrs.).

  • 4 years of experience with instrumentation and control systems / processes.

  • Advanced knowledge of related engineering standards, techniques and criteria (NEC, ISA, UL, etc.).

  • Good communication skills including the ability to comprehend and convey detailed technical data.

  • Ability to develop and maintain good interpersonal relationships.

  • Strong problem identification and problem resolution skills.

  • Design experience with AutoCAD software.

  • The following requirements are desired and will be used to differentiate all candidates who apply for this position. *

  • Licensed Professional Engineer.

  • Working knowledge of Rockwell PLC & HMI software (FactoryTalk, RSLogix5000, etc.).

  • Strong background in nuclear assay systems including; personnel contamination monitors, portable radiation protection/monitoring equipment and non-destructive assay systems


Domestic/International travel - 2%. Minimal travel for training or plant visits to Europe.
