Hotel Overview:

Located just north of the city, Fairmont Riyadh will be part of a new mixed-use development project comprising the hotel, a convention center and commercial real estate space that will house multinational corporations as well as regional companies. The hotel will feature 298 spacious guestrooms, including Fairmont Gold. Guests will enjoy a selection of dining venues as well as spa and fitness facilities. The convention center comprises 4,000 square meters of meeting and function space.

Summary of Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Manager Position Title, responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

  • Consistently offers professional, engaging and friendly service

  • Assist in the administration and supervision of the Laundry operation.Ensure the highest levels of guest service through the application of all Fairmont Riyadh Fairmont Core standards and standard operating policies.

  • Assist in effectively supervising employee relations within the department through involvement in performance appraisals, recognition, incentive programs and communication meetings.

  • To actively participate in daily briefing with staff.

  • Handle guest complaints and inform Laundry Manager/Director of Housekeeping of any damage to guest property as soon as it occurs.

  • To assist in preparing month end figures on linen quantities used per month for Rooms / Food and Beverage.

  • To assist in preparing month end write off figures of Linen rooms and Food and Beverage for the Laundry Manager.

  • To make the Laundry Manager aware of shortage of linen and replacing written off items with new linen.

  • To make sure agreed opening times in Linen room are observed.

  • To ensure the counting of linen being sent out and returned is correct – keeping strict accounting procedures. Any discrepancies to be reported to the Laundry Manager.

  • To spot check incoming linen regarding quality of washing and pressing from the contractual laundry

  • To check quantity of incoming linen.

  • To make sure any linen with holes or damages are examined and either repaired or discarded. To investigate why the damage occurred.

  • To make sure sufficient linen is in circulation.

  • To provide enough discarded linen for kitchen and housekeeping use, once the appropriate forms are fully completed.

  • To spot check the uniform exchange and check timely return of clean uniforms from laundry.

  • To check daily cleaning of workplace.

  • Maintain a close working relationship with the Housekeeping department.

  • Ensure the highest standards of cleanliness, maintenance and safety are achieved in the laundry department and throughout the hotel.

  • Ensure a progressive environment is created and maintained that affords employees the opportunities for job fulfilment within Fairmont Hotels and Resorts.

  • Maximize hotel profitability by properly managing expenses, labour and other material resources.

  • To be health & safety conscious and actively involved in maintaining a safe work environment.

  • Participates in regular inventories and analysis of losses.

  • To manage the recruitment of colleagues, scheduling & planning of departmental rosters, departmental orientation colleagues and training schedules.

  • Understands and is aware of all fire and safety procedures as well as occupational health and safety.

  • To undertake any other duties requested by the Laundry Manager

  • Previous experience is an asset

Physical Aspects of Position (include but are not limited to):

  • Constant standing and walking throughout shift
  • Frequent standing and walking throughout shift

  • Occasional lifting and carrying up to 20 lbs

  • Occasional ascending or descending ladders, stairs and ramps
