* The Arizona Department of Corrections (ADC) is seeking anaccounting technician*to reconcile purchase orders, receivers, and invoices prior to the preparation for payment.
Reviews and compiles vendor invoices
Generates payments for received products using automated accounting system
Calculates, compiles, and generates data for various financial reports including a monthly tax use report
Reviews and compiles documents from inmate work crews, invoicing and reconciling payments from outside entities for services provided
Verifies and secures warrants in preparation of State Treasurer deposits
Travels for state business as needed
Performs other duties as appropriate to the assignment
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs):
Generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and procedures
Automated accounting systems
Record retention and report preparation
Personal computers and software
Basic office equipment
Organization, prioritization, and time management
Accurately computing, coding, matching, batching, and balancing source documents for data input
Written and verbal communication
Building and maintaining interpersonal relationships
Work in a prison environment
Analyze and problem solve
Conduct research, retrieve, and compile data
Interpret and apply department policies and procedures
SPECIAL SELECTION FACTOR(S):
May require possession of, and ability to retain a current, valid state-issued driver’s license appropriate to the assignment. Employees who drive on state business are subject to drivers license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records and must complete any required driver training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.12).
Experience using automated accounting system(s)
Experience in accounting or bookkeeping
Employment is contingent on the selected applicant passing a background investigation and drug test*.
