Tesoro Manager Financial Analysis - Logistics in San Antonio, Texas

This position supports the Logistics Analytics business unit and oversees a team responsible for consolidating and analyzing enterprise data from multiple sources to enable effective operational and strategic decision making. Identifies, analyzes, and monitors business drivers that affect profitability and supports overall management strategy. Works with cross-functional teams and maintains positive and effective relationships with internal clients and other stakeholders in order to meet objectives.

  1. Manages a team responsible for providing actionable analytics for company operations and/or strategic initiatives.

  2. Recruits, develops, and coaches analysts to ensure team develops key capabilities and competencies.

  3. Leads the development of analysis and reporting of data for use in informed decision making by senior management. Prepares presentations and analysis for senior and executive level management.

  4. Oversees development and maintenance of models, analysis, forecasts and reports. Interprets and determines key drivers behind business results relative to plan.

  5. Establishes effective processes for measuring operational and financial performance. Works closely with management and business on scorecard development and segment performance reporting. Identifies and articulates key drivers and trends behind segment performance and business plan.

  6. Prepares ad-hoc financial analysis, decision support analytics, business cases, or other management level reporting and assignments as required.

  7. Drives process improvement initiatives and works across the organization to continuously improve overall analytical support.

  8. Maintains strong working relationships with operational business partners and other cross-functional roles within the Company in order to anticipate customer needs and expectations.



  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field required

  • Minimum 8 years in business or financial analysis required.

  • Advanced knowledge of finance and accounting concepts and principles

  • Comprehensive understanding of key business drivers

  • Effective oral and written communication skills with ability to present to and influence management

  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel

  • Strong problem solving skills

  • Ability to lead and direct the work of others

  • Ability to build a high-performing team

  • Ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships
