Our client a real estate services entity seeks a Risk Manager for a newly created position due to growth! The Risk Manager participates in the planning, organization, direction and coordination of various functions, operations, and activities pertaining to the risk management program. Duties include:
Responsible for the implementation of risk management activities on a day-to-day basis to further the organization's overall risk goals. These activities include the assessment and evaluation of risk in all business operations, the mitigation and control of risk, and the management of transferring risk.
The Risk Manager interfaces and collaborates with organization's team members to support Real Estate, Hospitality, Retail, and other business operations by identifying areas of risk and providing input and recommendations on the management of risk.
Delivers risk management consultation to executive members of the organization. This includes response to assessment and evaluation of risk and giving guidance in accordance with applicable federal, state and accrediting regulation and organization's policies.
Responsible for contract review, policy development and guidance, and contribution to other processes which require risk prevention or mitigation tactics.
Plans, develops, and provides education on topics related to risk prevention activities. Safety Training and OSHA.
Upon request, provides input to regulatory inquiries, acting as a risk advisor.
Through the utilization of standard work, supports in the risk financing activities, evaluation of insurance coverage, assists in managing the organization's professional liability self-insurance program, and the preparation of loss experience reports and summaries for internal and external customers. Evaluates potential exposures to ensure adequate coverage and minimal risk. Responds to inquiries related to the verification of coverages.
As required, manages liability claims handling, including assists the Director of HR with lawsuit management with outside defense counsel.
Participates in the development and implementation of specific department goals and tactics consistent with strategic plan. Participates in improvement projects aligned with goals, tactics and strategic plan. Ensures full and sustained implementation of process improvements.
Serves on committees and task forces to address specific issues and/or represent the department as assigned, and attends meetings and conferences as assigned. Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in, business, administration, finance, science or closely related field required, Masters degree preferred.
Professional certification as a Certified Professional in Risk Management and/or Risk Manager designation required.
This position requires a high-degree of understanding, knowledge and experience of a risk management program. This knowledge may include, but is not limited to, evaluation of exposures and risk and how to mitigate or transfer risk, education of risk to organization, contract review, procurement of insurance coverage and risk financing, and management of a self-insured professional liability program.
Familiar with federal and state regulatory requirements, claims management and interfacing with Human Resources and defense legal counsel.
The position requires at least 5 years' experience working in insurance, claims or risk management; program management experience is required.
Excellent written and verbal communications skills, including negotiation experience; strong conflict and relationship management, and team building skills; and strong program management skills are all required.
