Colour System Engineer
Analyzes, designs, programs, debugs and modifies firmware (e.g., DSP, embedded code, BIOS). Work often involves analog and digital hardware and real-time operating systems. Position requires knowledge and exposure to hardware design. Typically programs in machine language, assembly language and high-level languages (e.g., C, C++)
Designs enhancements, updates, and programming changes for portions and subsystems of firmware, including DSP, embedded code, EFI drivers, EFI applications and BIOS/UEFI
Analyzes design and determines coding, programming, and integration activities required based on general objectives and knowledge of overall architecture of product or solution.
Writes and executes complete testing plans, protocols, and documentation for assigned portion of application; identifies and debugs, and creates solutions for issues with code and integration into application architecture
Leads a project team of other firmware engineers and internal and outsourced development partners to develop reliable, cost effective and high quality solutions for assigned systems portion or subsystem
Collaborates and communicates with management, internal, and outsourced development partners regarding firmware design status, project progress, and issue resolution
Represents the firmware engineering team for all phases of larger and more-complex development projects.
Provides guidance and mentoring to less-experienced staff members.

Writing System Engineers play lead roles in multi-discipline teams working on new products and solutions for printing and imaging. You will design, implement, test, and validate systems and components to deliver optimized output quality, speed and reliability for our printers. Working with a team of other WS engineers and in close collaboration with Mechanical, Electrical and Firmware (software) engineers.
You will define, invent, and lead WS development projects and processes in order to deliver on HP Quality needs and performance.
Utilize best practices and approaches, leverage leanings across new product developments, such that Writing System Robustness is delivered to each new product development / introduction, utilizing experience from other products and activities.
Develop an atmosphere of continuous improvement and “Best in Class” processes and systems.
• Primary role is to maximize performance of printing systems within program boundary conditions (such as budget, resources, platform, schedule...).
• Take active part in the product architecture processes interacting with key stakeholders and other teams.
• Ensure supplies development (ink, media/substrate, printhead) meet product requirements. Working in co-development with the world-wide partner groups developing these assets.
Description of Role:
Participate in the development of a new press platform targeted for the Corrugated Packaging Market. Focus of this position is in the area of color and press calibrations. Responsibilities will include:
Develop strategy to maximize the color performance on the press, including total gamut volume, color accuracy, and color consistency
Design and develop required calibration algorithms to maximize image quality and color performance taking into account the tolerances of mechanical position, printhead operation, ink, media characteristics, and other relevant variables
Collaborate with the definition and qualification of the hardware sensor solution to define specifications and optimize performance of the calibrations
Understand and develop solutions for system performance issues that affect customer perceived output quality that might be addressed by press calibrations
Develop and maintain effective working relationships with other disciplines and strategic partners
Education and Experience
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent
Minimum 4-6 years experience
Knowledge and Skills
Expertise in multiple firmware design tools and languages.
Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
Designing firmware, including interaction and integration with hardware design
Firmware testing methodology, including writing and execution of test plans, debugging, and testing scripts and tools
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; mastery in English and local language. Ability to effectively communicate product architectures, design proposals and negotiate options at management levels.
Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD. degree in an Engineering/Science related discipline
High level of analytical decision making and problem solving skills
Strong interpersonal relationship, teamwork, and communication skills
Experience and willingness to develop projects across organizations/locations
Interest in interacting, learning and integrating adjacent disciplines (ME, EE, FW)
Technical breath and system approach.
Strength in creative problem solving and new concept development
Desirable experience using programming languages
Strength in experimental design
Demonstrated understanding of project management tools, qualification techniques, etc, as utilized in an environment of continuous improvement.
Fluent spoken and written English
