Responsible for designing, implementing and maintaining quality engineering protocols and methods for building, assembly and test transforming materials into partially finished or finished products. Ensures compliance of manufacturing and production processes with internal and external safety, quality and regulatory standards requirements for worldwide distribution. Designs methods and procedures for inspecting, testing and evaluating the precision and accuracy of production processes, production equipment and finished products. Performs analysis of reports and production data to identify trends and recommend updates or changes to design, test, manufacturing, quality standards and procedures when necessary. Recommends performance objectives for engineering, test, manufacturing, product and design functions. May assure compliance to in-house and/or external specifications and standards (i.e. Six Sigma, Lean Sigma and others).


  • Designs and integrates quality requirements, processes, and practices into the development, design, manufacturing, and continuous improvement of products or solutions for a customer segment or business unit.

  • Analyzes and reviews new product and solution designs and specifications for potential quality issues; provides tangible feedback and proposes changes to improve product quality and minimize risk of failures.

  • Reviews reports, test data, and process results for assigned components and subsystems to identify trends and issues, perform root-cause analysis, and develop recommendations for resolution

  • Communicates product and process issue analysis to product stakeholders; collaborates with management, internal, and outsourced manufacturing and development partners to recommend and implement changes to product or process to reduce defects and improve quality

  • Represents the quality engineering team for all phases of larger and more-complex development and manufacturing projects.

  • Provides guidance and mentoring to less-experienced staff members.

Primary Functions:

Writing System Engineers play lead roles in multi-discipline teams working n new products and solutions for printing and imaging. You will design, implement, test, and validate systems and components to deliver optimized output quality, speed and reliability for our printers. Working with a team of other WS engineers and in close collaboration with Mechanical, Electrical and Firmware (software) engineers.

The position combines Reliability/Robustness theory and design practices as well as in Qualification Techniques from component, subsystem to complete integrated machine with the previously mentioned Writing System performance metrics.

Utilize best practices and approaches, leverage leanings across new product developments, such that Writing System Robustness is delivered to each new product development / introduction, utilizing experience from other products and activities.

Develop an atmosphere of continuous improvement and “Best in Class” processes and systems.

• Measure performance and continuous improvement of the overall system against system objectives.

• Maximize performance of printing systems within program boundary conditions (such as budget, resources, platform, schedule...).

• Take active part in the product architecture processes interacting with key stakeholders and other teams.

• Ensure supplies development (ink, media/substrate, print head) meet product requirements. Working in co-development with the world-wide partner groups developing these assets.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The job content will include some of the following responsibilities:

  • Develop validation plans, methodologies and processes to ensure system integration validation according to the System Reliability and Image Quality specifications.

  • Define and document tests and processes to evaluate product integration performance in the key Quality and Performance parameters.

  • Create test schedules balancing among time, resources needed, data confidence and risk level.

  • Interaction with media and ink/architecture teams for definition of requirements, optimization of designs, and qualification of results

  • Ink/media interactions investigation and qualification

  • Interaction with other teams and marketing for optimization of system for image quality vs. throughput

  • Development of new designs for new technical challenges requiring writing system knobs to overcome other system limitations

  • Interact with all other project disciplines and development partners to solve multi-disciplinary performance issues

  • Understand and develop solutions for system performance issues that affect customer perceived image quality

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent

  • Lean, Six Sigma green belt or equivalent preferred

  • Minimum 4-6 years experience

Knowledge and Skills

  • Using engineering tools and software packages to test, design, and evaluate products and processes.

  • Strong analytical, statistics, and problem solving skills.

  • Understanding of material properties, hardware and electrical component design and manufacture, and industry quality standards and methodologies

  • Using empirical and root-cause analysis, modeling, and testing methodologies to validate product designs, specifications, and processes

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; mastery in English and local language.

  • Ability to effectively communicate quality plans, proposals, and results, and negotiate options at management levels.

Job Requirements:

  • 4 or more years engineering experience in similar positions.

  • Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD. degree in an Engineering/Science related discipline

  • High level of analytical decision making and problem solving skills

  • Strong interpersonal relationship, teamwork, and communication skills

  • Technical breath and system approach.

  • Interest in interacting, learning and integrating adjacent disciplines (ME, EE, FW)

  • Strength in creative problem solving and new concept development

  • Desirable experience using programming languages

  • Strength in experimental design

  • Demonstrated understanding of project management tools, qualification techniques, etc, as utilized in an environment of continuous improvement.

  • Fluent spoken and written English
