Janssen Research & Development Pharmaceutical Research & Development, L.L.C., a member of the Johnson & Johnson Family of Companies, is recruiting for a Biologics Development Sciences (BDS) Co-op to be based in Spring House, PA. Janssen Research & Development (Johnson & Johnson) Pharmaceutical Research & Development, L.L.C., develops treatments that improve the health and lifestyles of people worldwide. Research and development areas encompass novel targets in neurologic disorders, gastroenterology, oncology, infectious disease, diabetes, hematology, metabolic disorders, immunologic disorders, and reproductive medicine. The duration of this co-op is April to September 2017.
The co-op will support the BDS group, a part of Johnson & Johnson Pharmaceutical Research & Development, specifically within the Drug Metabolism Pharmacokinetics (DMPK) group. The DMPK group is responsible for the development of plate based assays in which ultimately determine pharmacokinetic profile of the drug in vivo. Prior to in vivo determination, plate based assays are developed and the student will aid in the reagent pairing process utilizing new technologies and various platforms. The project will aim to cover both current and promising new practices within DMPK in order to explore potential process improvements thus making development time more efficient. The project will evaluate both 96- and 384-well assays on multiple platforms as well as integrate automated liquid handling and new versions of data analysis.
Candidates must be enrolled in an accredited college throughout the duration of the co-op.
Completion of a minimum of two years towards a BS in Chemical or Biochemical Engineering; Chemistry/Analytical Chemistry; Biology; Biochemistry; Molecular Biology; Biotechnology; Microbiology or related science or engineering disciplines is required.
Previous co-op or internship experience is preferred.
Student must be available from April to September 2017and have the ability to work full-time during that time.
Extensive PC based skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word, Project and PowerPoint. Additional knowledge of inventory management and data processing such as Watson/LIMS is preferred.
Minimum 3.2 GPA is preferred.
Students must be able to provide their own transportation to/from their work location.
Students must be legally authorized to work in the United States and not require future sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g. H1-B status) now or in the future.
