Job Description:

POSITION SUMMARY STATEMENT:

To review accounting transactions, prepare financial statements, reports, and maintain records of the financial activity of the departments or units assigned; and to perform related duties as assigned. (This is the journey level class in the Accountant series. It differs from Accountant I in that duties require a higher knowledge of accounting principles, coupled with skills developed through experience in their application. It differs from Accounting III in that this position requires a lower level of experience, and the operating departments and issues are less difficult and less complex.)

Education:

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Public Administration or a related field.

Experience:

Two years experience as an Accountant I or equivalent

Knowledge, Skills

& Abilities:

Knowledge of accounting theory and practices.

Knowledge of basic principles and public finance.

Knowledge of basic budget principles.

Ability to make independent investigations of errors in accounts or statements.

Ability to operate office machines such as calculators and personal computers

Knowledge of the laws, rules and procedures applicable to the accounting function of the unit to which assigned.

Ability to design micro computer applications
