BAE Systems Mgr II- Business Dev in Sterling Heights, Michigan

Responsible for all Business Development activities supporting our Protection Systems and Technical Services (PS&TS) annual strategy & business campaign plans in support of meeting or exceeding the business plan. The PS&TS BD Manager will work closely with the Program Director and business area directors in planning and qualifying prospects into viable opportunities for sales of Combat Vehicles Field Service Support and Training capability, our spares and forge business area, as well as unique service and support pursuits. Responsible for identifying and establishing new business opportunities; developing and maintaining effective customer relations; developing specific win strategies and tactics; obtaining and analyzing competitor information; making bid/no bid recommendations; and directing selected activities of company business development with technical personnel and consultants. Duties and responsibilities are assigned with combined direct and matrixed resources within Line of Business (LOB) and external subcontracts.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Develops new strategic business initiatives and plans including associated assessments and analyses (market research analysis, competitor analysis, and operational and strategic studies)

  • Identifies, pursues, and captures new business opportunities for our Combat Vehicles business specifically related to our Support and Technical Services offerings

  • Develops and manages capture strategies, Price to Win, and Solution to Win

  • Negotiates teaming agreements to support proposal and program execution activities

  • Maintains market cognizance related to our opportunities

  • Leads cross functional capture teams, including subcontractors or primes from opportunity identification through transition to contract execution

  • Manages and directs internal and external stakeholder engagement and key business to business relationships

  • Collaborates with our proposal management resources to support proposal development

  • Provides management periodic opportunity updates on both recurring and as-needed basis

  • Initiates and utilizes the principles of life cycle management, phase reviews, color reviews, competitor intelligence analysis and strategy development as appropriate

  • Maintains collaboration with Program Management to ensure alignment between Capture, Proposal, and Execution plans

  • Engages with customer contacts to promote business objectives and develop capture strategies

  • Works to create a culture of collaboration across the BAE Systems business sectors

  • Manages geographically dispersed proposal team activities

  • Travel 15% - 25%

Minimum Education And Experience

Bachelor's Degree and 15 years work experience or equivalent experience

Required Skills And Education

Relevant Bachelor degree or equivalent additional 13 years' experience; or relevant Master degree 11 years' experience.
