Field Engineer - ILMS

The Field Engineer is responsible for engineering, design, maintenance, and installation of telecommunications systems and electronic systems. A working knowledge of DoD, Federal, and Industry requirements related to communications systems. A comprehensive knowledge of DOD military specifications and standards including USCG/C4ISR specifications and standards is required. Incumbent is responsible for the development and/or review of engineering drawings, to include the development of red-line corrections for “as built” configurations.
TheField Engineer is responsible for supporting a variety of tasking to include the installation, testing, and over-the-shoulder training of multiple electronics systems, shore facilities maintenance and installation.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Assists in the repair and maintaining of electrical, electronics and RF communications equipment as needed.
Serves as team leader for system installations, integrations, engineering upgrades, and testing projects when required
Comprehension and hands on application of NAVSEA installation standards and Military Specifications for C4ISR systems installations.
Performs shipboard and shore site (project based) electronics installations, upgrades, field changes IAW applicable military, federal, and/or industrial standards
Comprehend and execute tasking of moderate to high complexity with little to no supervision.
Works well within a team environment in the field.
Provides over-the-shoulder (post installation) training to civilian and/or military personnel to system functionality and operation.
Possess and properly utilize installation hand tools such as screw drivers, wrenches, tie-wrap guns, connector crimpers, wire strippers, side cutters, and electrical scissors among many others.
Interpret technical drawings or publications in order to execute a specific task.
Provides on-the-job training to subordinate technicians as required to properly complete a task.
Quickly adapt and understand new system installations through independent study, research, and comprehension.
Travel to job sites as required by the PM.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Education: Graduateof resident study at an accredited technical institute or have successfully
completedan accredited Military School recognized in the field of Electronic Systems
Generaland Specialized Experience may be substituted for Education:
- Eight(8) years’ experience working with C4ISR Systems.
Ten(10) years of experience in direct support of USCG communications systems.Eight (8) years of technical experience.
8-10years hands on experience with electronic engineering drawings, technicalpublications and manuals
8-10years hands on experience with electronic system operations, preventativemaintenance, corrective maintenance and repair and supply support of electronicdistribution systems.
Knowledgeof connector fabrication, soldering, cableway or telecommunications trainingsuch as BICSI, 3M, IPC, or NAVSEA instruction is a plus.
Mustpossess or have the ability to obtain Secret level DoD security clearance.
WORK ENVIRONMENT ANDPHYSICAL DEMANDS
Abilityto climb tall structures (40 feet or more) with 50 lb. load to perform work.
Abilityto work in an industrial environment.
Abilityto lift heavy objects (up to 50 pounds).
Abilityto work outdoors in all types of weather conditions.
Abilityto travel extensively throughout the states to include Alaska.
