SUMMARY:

Under general direction, serves as the subject matter expert for supported technologies and defines, develops, maintains and advises on the effective use of information technology at Kforce.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide advanced technical expertise and consulting services supporting the technical infrastructure.

  • Create and/or approve technical documentation for projects and support (e.g., Technical Requirements, Technical Design, Procurement Specifications, Technical Flow Charts, Implementation plans, etc).

  • Assist in implementation planning activities. Develop and/or approve Technical Impact Analysis.

  • Provide technical leadership and direction to other skill levels within this career path.

  • Perform Lead Systems Engineer role on very large projects or programs. May perform Project Lead role on midsize operational projects.

  • Serve as technical advisor to the Project Leader. Assist Project Leader to ensure appropriate technical documents are identified and created and that all appropriate technical tasks are identified.

  • Support the enterprise s IT strategies. Ensure integrity of supported technologies and that they align with architecture governance. Work with KTS Architecture to plan technology road map and governance plans.

  • Champion work aimed at maturing and improving support functions and processes needed to maintain health, reliability and costs of assigned technologies.

  • Plan and lead on various engineering efforts.

  • Perform advanced problem determination and resolution. Lead and direct teams focused on solving high impact technology incidents.

  • Lead in the evaluation and selection of new hardware, operating systems and system utilities.

  • May perform all duties as outlined under Engineer I and II job descriptions.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related discipline and 5 to 9 years experience serving in an engineering related discipline or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Proficient knowledge and in-depth understanding of how business and technical processes integrate required.

  • Proven experience with many of the tools listed including but not limited to the following: MS Windows, Unix, HP Servers and HW, EMC SAN, SQL Server, Oracle, Cisco Networks, VoIP, etc.

  • Familiarity with System Development Life Cycle processes preferred.

  • Windows Server Operating Systems

  • Symantec NetBackup

  • HP ProLiant Enterprise Server Hardware

  • VMware vSphere Virtualization

  • Active Directory (Policy Design and Management)

  • Microsoft Azure

  • Scripting and Automation

  • Client Virtualization (VDI)

  • Windows Failover Clustering

  • SAN (EMC VNX or HPE 3Par)

CERTIFICATES AND/OR LICENSES:

  • Microsoft Engineering, Unix or Networks certificates highly recommended and encouraged (e.g., MCSE, A , Network , CCNA, etc.

  • ITIL and/or MOF best practices certifications a plus.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to travel as needed, up to 20%.
