The Enterprise division of AFL Network Services provides evaluation, engineering, installation and maintenance of the active and passive components that comprise: Telecommunication Systems, TCP/IP Networks, CCTV, Security, Access Control, Intrusion and Wireless Solutions. We also provide short and long term labor assistance for customers needing sub-contacted resources in the Telecom, IS, Security and Video industries.
A Technician I will install with direct supervision: cable pathway systems, firestop systems, various electronic components, various cable that includes but is not limited to: twisted pair cable, coax, power limited tray cable, stranded cable and solid conductor low voltage cable. Cable installation includes: placement, termination, testing, labeling and documentation.
Install cable pathway systems (cable trays, cable racks, J-hooks or D-rings).
Install, terminate, test, label & document horizontal, backbone & other cables.
Dress & route cable into telecoms closets, modular furniture & other work area outlets.
Build out telecom & equipment rooms.
Firestop various types of cable penetrations.
Test, troubleshoot, & document test results for cabling.
Possess working knowledge of ANSI/TIA/EIA cabling standards & the National Electric Code.
Understands, adheres to, & promotes the Environmental, Health & Safety policies of AFL Telecoms.
Perform/prepare timely field reporting of asset usage as required.
Other duties as assigned by Manager.
A valid drivers license.
A High School Diploma or equivalent. (Vocational/Technical/Business School strongly preferred.)
Customer service skills.
Ability to read Blue Prints
Ability to travel overnight
Strong mechanical aptitude
Basic computer skills.
The ability to think critically and problem solve.
The ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
The desire to become proficient and increase profitability.
Comprehension of the terminology pertaining to the installation and service of telecommunication, data, security and wireless systems.
Comprehension of the publications pertaining to standard telecommunication, data, security and wireless systems practices, engineering and Federal, State and local safety standards.
The ability to pass applicable state and federal background checks in order to become a registered security installer.
Use of small hand tools.
Use of power tools.
Climbing of stairs, ladders, and/or scaffolds.
Ability to work from heights such as man lifts, scissor lifts & roof tops utilizing proper fall protection.
Carrying of loads up & down stairs.
Must work outdoors in all weather conditions.
Exposure to noisy or dusty conditions; chemicals & solvents; mechanical, electrical, and/or other hazards.
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States of America.
