Medical Information Associate, Diabetes (1 year contract)

The Medical Information Associate is a customer-oriented individual who communicates high-level clinical/scientific data externally to healthcare providers and internally to cross functional business partners, supporting inter- and intra-departmental initiatives and business strategies.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver verbal and/or written communication of researched medical/scientific information to healthcare professionals and consumers in response to unsolicited requests.

  • Interpret, analyze, and disseminate relevant, published and unpublished data to internal business partners and cross-functional teams (e.g. Sales & Marketing, Market Access, Regulatory Affairs, Medical Affairs) to support business strategy and product life-cycle management.

  • Collaborate with internal business partners on the development, review, approval, and implementation of promotional material, scientific presentations, corporate communications, and patient education projects.

  • Actively participate in cross-functional business teams for product launches and management of marketplace issues.

  • Deliver scientific support as required in training of new business partners on therapeutic areas, product-specific knowledge, and Medical Information processes and resources.

  • Actively contribute to local and global Medical Information projects to enhance deliverables to external and internal customers.

  • Generate and communicate customer insights through analysis of medical information requests and attendance at therapeutic and professional conferences.

  • Provide Medical Information booth support at major scientific meetings.

  • Identify and report adverse events and product complaints for Janssen marketed products according to internal procedures and timelines established in SOPs.

  • Lead and/or participate in local and/or global Medical Information projects



  • Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy or another healthcare profession, or a degree in Life Sciences required; advanced graduate degree a strong asset (MSc, MD, PhD, PharmD)

  • Diabetes therapeutic area expertise

  • Diabetes educator certification will be an asset

  • Experience in a pharmaceutical industry Medical Information department, in a regional or hospital drug information centre, or in a healthcare setting.

  • Familiarity with regulatory and healthcare compliance guidelines/policies preferred

  • Project Management experience and/or certification an asset

Technical competency requirements:

  • Demonstrated ability to research, interpret and translate complex scientific information into professional communications to healthcare professionals and business partners

  • Demonstrated ability to search and navigate through various online and in-print research resources.

  • Superior attention to accuracy and detail.

  • Strong communication (verbal, written) and presentation skills.

  • Demonstrated competencies for creativity, problem-solving, and innovative solutions.

  • Proven ability to work independently and in cross-functional team settings

  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize.

  • Advanced knowledge of Word, PowerPoint and Excel required. Working knowledge of other relevant software programs (including Adobe or Microsoft Office Suite) a plus.
