This position is located in the Physical Therapy Department, Directorate of Clinical Support Services, at Naval Hospital Twenty-nine Palms and surrounding clinics.
Delivers highly specialized and diversified treatment for patients whose physical require the application of nonstandard treatment procedures and approaches.
Operates specialized medical equipment to include electro-therapeutic modalities (Ultrasound, iontophoresis, Neuro Muscular Electrical Stimulation (NMES) and lumbar/cervical traction).
Educates the patient and/or family on discharge instructions, health promotion, disease prevention and wellness.
Prepares, and maintains patient charts for use by the designated licensed, credentialed provider.
Assists with front desk support i.e. answer telephone calls, greet patients, and respond to patient inquires.

SELECTIVE PLACEMENT FACTOR: This position has a selective placement factor needed in order to qualify. The actual Selective Placement Factor is a Current Physical Therapy Assistant License and a Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.Failure to possess this factor WILL result in an ineligible rating.
Possession of the factor must be verifiable by submitting a copy of your Current Physical Therapy Assistant License and a Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: In order to qualify for this position, your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-05) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience is defined as experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled and has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities, to perform successfully the duties of the position such as:
Assisting in planning and administering physical therapy treatment procedures to patients.
Operating equipment such as electro-therapeutic modalities (Ultrasound, iontophoresis, Neuro Muscular Electrical Stimulation (NMES) and lumbar/cervical traction).
Monitoring patients' undergoing procedures and treatments and identifying acute distress or the potential of acuity change.
Observing changes to patient condition and reporting changes to licensed, credentialed providers.
Promoting self-care and assisting with the dissemination of information regarding discharge instructions.

SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE: Applicants may substitute the following education for the required experience, provided it demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to do the work of the position: 9 semester hours of graduate education directly related to the position.

Special Requirements**A security clearance is a requirement of this position. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a position offer or removal.
Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if the applicant fails to report to the scheduled drug test appointment. Incumbents of drug testing designated positions will be subject to random testing. Drug test results will be provided to the employing activity/command.
This is a Department of the Navy drug testing designated position. In accordance with Executive Order 12546, applicants selected are required to submit to a drug test and receive a negative drug test result prior to appointment. In addition, this position is a drug-testing designated position (TDP) subject to random testing for illegal drug use.
This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is therefore subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations. Applicants tentatively selected for appointment to this position will be required to sign a statement (Condition of employment) consenting to season influenza vaccinations.
