AAA Northeast Roadside Technician - Tow in Union, New Jersey

SUMMARY: Operates a flatbed or wheel lift and responds to dispatched roadside assistance calls that require a tow, jump start, lock- out, fuel replenishment, tire change and other minor mechanical assistance by performing the following duties:


  • Receives service calls from dispatch department and drives to the location.

  • Attempts to resolve service issues by performing jump starts, providing gas replenishment, changing flat tires.

  • Performs mobile battery service; tests and installs batteries and prepares invoices, prepares and positions vehicle for service or towing.

  • Tows vehicles to a repair facility.

  • Practices safety/security requirements and procedures.

Communicates with dispatch department throughout the call in order to monitor progress.

  • Interacts with dispatch department for instruction when SOP’s can’t be followed.

  • Informs member of additional towing charges that will be incurred.

  • Follows standard operating procedures to meet service delivery and quality standards.

  • Maintains vehicle and equipment.

  • Prepares daily reports on services rendered. Completes a vehicle and equipment check list daily.

  • Basic electrical trouble shooting.


Automotive technical school or 1 year of automotive experience or experience driving commercial or towing vehicles. Prior customer service experience and effective communication skills. Candidates must be 21 years of age, have a valid New Jersey driver’s license in good standing that meets our insurance standards, the ability to pass a DOT physical, drug test, physical endurance assessment and criminal background check.

Schedule: Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday from 6:00 am until 2:30 pm. Days off are Thursday and Saturday.
