Lead Dam Safety Engineer

This position will Lead a group of Dam Inspectors.
Dam Safety Inspectors provide a “boots on the ground” view of the dam and perform visual inspections 4 times per day. They are tasked with maintaining a clear, concise and accurate record of the work and pertinent fugitive data so that the condition of the dam may be assessed and evaluated in real time while continuously being compared to historic conditions. General topics to be included in field records are basic qualitative data, documentation of significant observations, photographs, instrument readings, sink hole monitoring, seepage monitoring, etc. These field records could be integral toward providing a basis for changing conditions of the dam.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
•The Lead Dam Safety Engineer(s) interacts and gathers information from the Dam Safety Inspectors, Dam Safety Coordinators, Engineering Manager and Lead Grouting Engineer providing dam safety observation and inspection services, in order to assemble summary documents, report to the client, and to B&V’s Project Manager.
•The Lead Dam Safety Engineer is responsible for assembling the dam safety portion of the daily and weekly summary reports that include instrumentation data and visual inspection summaries.
•Provides QA/QC for daily inspection reports prepared by inspectors. Ensures information is uploaded and available on the client's IMS system.
•Reviews manual instrumentation data for the piezometer and inclinometers that are collected onsite. Provide data to the client through IMS for incorporation into system.
•Reviews historic dam information to have in depth understanding of previous dam behavior during events such as storms, dewatering, test grouting, etc.
•Review current thresh hold and alarms levels and provide input into revised levels due to toe drain being constructed and crest lowering. Work with the client to finalize alarm levels for grouting.
•Monitor Instrumentation and provide response to instrument alarms when they occur. Assess the situation and decide plan of action. Coordinate activities with the client since they have the stop work authority. Perform revised modeling when needed to assess current situation.
•Attend all meetings and convey necessary information to others.
•Coordinate with the client's Engineering, Instrumentation, Dam Safety and Asset Owner groups of the client.
•Establish and maintain a project information storage system that is organized and accessible to members of the project team.
3 years at Entry level CM or 5+ years at Superintendent Level;

Preferred Job Qualifications:
Master's degree in Engineering (Civil or Geotechnical) preferred, PE Preferred. 10+ year engineering experience in similar facility construction.
