The Distribution Modernization and Customer Experience (DMCE) service offering leader for Management Consulting, sets the strategy and direction for the practice area focused on:
Intelligent Infrastructure: Enabling reliability, efficiency, and savings for the utility and customers via automation and informational analytics
•Second Generation AMI Execution and Change Management
•Energy Management System Investment and Replacement Strategy (Advanced DMS)
•Operational Data Analytics Governance Models for Investing in, Deploying, and Maintaining Assets
Operational Distributed Energy Resources: Planning and Implementation of technology and customer programs for a dynamic, dispatchable, and interoperable next-gen grid
•Interconnection of PV and Small Generation Service
•Distributed Distribution Planning
•D(E)RMS Architecture and Implementation
•Energy Efficiency Program Design, Behavioral DR, and Dynamic Pricing
•Connected/Smart Devices and Utility integrated Direct Load Control. This leader is responsible for leading a team of senior project directors tasked with the development of market-driven consulting solutions across a wide-variety of utility clients. The individual should be well versed in driving the business development and discovery process from early client meetings, solution definition, scope creation, deal close, contracting, and the full life-cycle of technical project delivery. The DMCE Leader is expected to provide input on the strategic plans for the overall consulting organization, and contribute to the thought leadership both internal and market-facing with regards to Distribution and Customer program trends and insights.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
•Collaborates closely with industry leadership to determine the fit and value proposition for the offering in that industry
•Develops the “market story” for each offering in the industry targeted
•Value proposition/marketing plan developed for each industry targeted
•Conform offering for each industry vertical
•Responsible for proposal content as related to DMCE offering
•Develop staffing/resource planning for DMCE offering team
•Establish and manage vendor alignment
•Contributes to or leads the development and implementation of the strategic direction and objectives of DMCE service offering
•Manages employees in engagements and provides input for performance management and compensation
•Leads development of consulting services
•Guides the career development of other employees in the firm or provide mentoring. May provide overall performance evaluation. Evaluates employee contribution to specific engagements. Creates opportunities via engagement assignments for the development of an employee’s competencies.
•Transfers knowledge, capabilities, and skills to improve others’ knowledge and skill levels.
•Provide ongoing feedback to professionals on the projects and their supervisors. Complete project evaluation forms.
•Delegates work duties according to the development opportunities and needs of individuals
•Creates leverage and maintains productive key relationships within client organizations.
•Seeks opportunities with existing or new clients. Actively pursues the acquisition of new engagements.
•Identifies and addresses critical success factors for complex engagements. Analyzes and aligns solutions with the business objectives.
•Simultaneously manages multiple engagements, as necessary.
•Secures receivables from clients during and after completion of engagements.
•Develops or encourages creation of profitable service products to be sold to clients in defined service offerings
Industry Knowledge Capability:
•Leads delivery of innovative solutions from concept through implementation for client engagements.
•Serves as an adviser to engagement teams.
•Leads quality reviews of assigned engagements
Project Management Capability:
•Manages and leads all aspects of an engagement including staffing and operations as well as client relationships.
•Defines and develops a knowledge management strategy and plan for engagements.
•Ascertains risks to the success of engagements and minimizes or eliminates their impact.
•Manages multiple projects at any one time, as necessary.
•Manages highly complex or high volume of engagements with factors that may include: enterprise wide or multiple business units; outside contractorsvendors; technology integration; and cross-functional teams. Billable and business development targets will be established during an annual goal setting process.
Bachelor’s degree or relevant work experience. Has successfully managed multiple engagements simultaneously. Contributor or leader to acquire new engagements. Typically 12-15+ years in a business/consulting environment.

Preferred Job Qualifications:
Executive Consulting Leader skilled at crafting complex solutions across distribution operations and customer experience for Electric, Water, and Gas utilities:
•Experience in commercialized, emerging technology with a focus in Advanced Metering Infrastructure, Distributed Energy Resource Management, and Distribution Management Systems
•Possess a working knowledge of traditional and emerging utility regulatory constructs, (NY REV, Rule 21, etc.) as well as ratemaking fundamentals
•Ability to construct a cost-effective business case for utility capital investment, as well as facilitate the architecture of a technology roadmap to support next-gen operations
•Working knowledge of the Smart Utility vendor landscape, including experience in integrating or collaborating with at least one major provider in each of the following category: AMI, DMS/OMS, and DRMS
•Ability to facilitate an executive workshop on IT/OT Convergence and the impact DERs will have on the regulated electric market
•Familiarity with Demand-Side Management, (DSM) program design and execution, including Direct Load Control, TOU and Demand Rates, custom Energy Efficiency measures, and Behavioral DR
•Experience in digital customer experience, specifically concerning the delivery of actionable energy insights and behind-the-meter programs in a mobile-enabled environment
•Proven senior leader with experience in identifying, crafting, scoping, pricing, and closing complex strategy-to-implementation projects in the smart utility space with senior management of mid to major public and investor-owned utilities
•Willingness to travel at least 75%
