Director, Revenue Management Fairmont Empress has embarked on an exciting strategic renovation project that will see over $55 million dollars invested into capital improvements spanning two phases, completing with a Grand Opening in June 2017. The renovations showcase upgrades and enhancements to guest rooms & suites, meeting spaces, spa & public areas, and include the addition of a new harbour front restaurant & lounge. Further renovation highlights include the expansion of luxurious Fairmont Gold rooms & suites inventory; a new Fairmont Gold Lounge & patio above the famed “The Empress” sign; and the addition of a lobby lounge & pâtisserie in the iconic Afternoon Tea Room. A Royal Suite has been designed to provide guests an unrivalled, luxurious one-of-a-kind experience in an expansive suite that features a breathtaking view of Victoria’s Inner Harbour. No details will be spared to bring modern luxury hotel experiences to the forefront of Fairmont Empress’ next chapter.

The Director, Revenue Management plays an integral part in the hotel’s strategic repositioning as luxury hotel in all key segments. The highly seasonal urban resort will be repositioned in a competitive local and regional market and working on implementing the ideal future business mix will be just one of the key strategic mandates for the engaged, analytical and enthusiastic candidate. Reporting to the Director, Sales & Marketing, the responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

Responsibilities

  • Consistently offer professional, friendly and engaging service
  • Manage demand, forecasting and inventory as it relates to driving revenue opportunity for the hotel
  • Maximize room revenues through a thorough understanding of all booking channels, managing inventory and rate accordingly
  • Maximize total hotel room revenue from all booking sources through analysis and management of PMS, CRS, Delphi, GDS and OTA
  • Monitor transient, tour and group booking pace in order to determine pricing and availability controls for all reservation distribution sources
  • Monitor key indicators of hotel performance and third party intelligence sources to identify revenue opportunities
  • Operationalizes hotel and corporate pricing strategies through definition and management of rate levels, hurdle points, which are congruent with demand factors. and managed through all distribution channels to maximize RevPar
  • Works with DOSM to evaluate group thresholds
  • With DOSM, establishes and presents hotel pricing levels for implementation
  • Owner of Revenue Management System (IDeaS V5). Responsible for configuration, forecast validation and daily interaction with system and decision produced
  • Reviews competitive set pricing, yield strategies and completes analysis of the market and its opportunities based upon the competition
  • Support the Royal Service Manager in ensuring all Reservation Agents are knowledgeable in room and hotel service pricing and packaging
  • Conduct regularly scheduled RevPro, Forecast and Budget meetings and makes sure minutes are taken, distributed and followed up on
  • Completes all rooms forecasting to accurately project demand and pick up for groups and transient, both short and long term. Participates in the annual budgeting process with DOSM/DOF

  • Maintains records pertaining to market segments, transient pace numbers, forecasts, and other rooms data

  • Balance operational, administrative and Colleague needs

  • Assist guests regarding hotel facilities in an informative and helpful way

  • Ensures accurate and timely preparation of analytical reports
  • Play an active role in the strategic plan, marketing plan and budgeting processes
  • Helps preparing and presenting forecast and budget presentation to Corporate and Ownership
  • Stay current with industry changes and how it may impact demand
  • Prepare and present weekly and monthly analytical reports
  • Ensures the hotels descriptions and set up in all distribution systems are correct and reflect the hotels selling strategy in all booking channels

  • Follow departmental policies and procedures

  • Follow all safety policies
  • Other duties as assigned
Employee Status

Qualifications:

  • Minimum two years leadership experience within a similar role required
  • Computer literate in Microsoft Window applications and relevant computer applications required
  • University/College degree in a related discipline required
  • Must be extremely organized and detailed oriented
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal required
  • Strong interpersonal and problem solving abilities
  • Highly responsible & reliable
  • Ability to focus attention on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous at all times
