Summary of Responsibilities:Reporting to the Assistant Director, Human Resources, responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

  • Initiate, co-ordinate, execute and follow-up on all training activities within the hotel

  • Drive and lead the full cycle recruitment process for all hourly vacancies at the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver

  • Facilitate and support myFairmont Orientation, Fairmont Service Promise, Train the Trainer and Supervisory Skillsbuilders and LEAD Performance Management program and other Corporately sponsored learning initiatives

  • Assist each department in developing quality introductory and ongoing departmental training plans and learning activities; maintain active follow-up through on-going coaching and guidance and support

  • Provide support and development of Departmental Trainers, including conducting monthly Departmental Trainer Meetings

  • Leverage the talents of other trainers to produce an energetic, exciting learning environment throughout the hotel

  • Update training information in employee HRIS files, maintaining accurate records of activities and participant information

  • Maintain an ongoing Training Calendar for the hotel; work with the Pacific North West Regional Learning & Development Specialist to ensure learning resources and opportunities are maximized

  • Champion colleague development and coach department leaders to organize and deliver learning on an on-going basis

  • Champion all Service Plus related initiatives including monthly recognition and Committee Meetings

  • Ensure a smooth flow of the recruitment process, including screening potential applicants, coordinating interview with Department Heads, conducting reference checks, background checks and offers of employment as required

  • Coordinate the placement of internship students throughout the hotel.

  • Ensure successful advertising and marketing to attract top talent and take ownership of the Hotel’s social media recruitment strategy

  • Educate and support supervisors and managers responsible for hiring as to the hotel’s recruitment policies and philosophy

  • Coordinate and promote the Company’s Talent Scout internal referral programs

  • Provide monthly HR statistics and reports

  • Act as an internal consultant to provide expert coaching and direction on HR policy, programs, employee relations, legislation, employment standards, human rights and compensation

  • Be a role model within the hotel and demonstrate professional leadership skills that are fully aligned and in support of our culture

  • Assisting with general support for HR office (including front counter and benefits) and any other projects as required

Employee Status

Qualifications :* *

  • Minimum of 2 years experience in Human Resources in a recruitment focused role

  • Minimum of 1 year facilitation experience

  • University/College degree or diploma with a formal education in Human Resources Management

  • CPHR designation considered a strong asset

  • Outstanding communication skills, both written & verbal

  • A confident & dynamic public speaker, able to communicate and interact effectively with all levels of the organization

  • Enthusiastic and positive personality with ability to build trusting relationships with others and handle confidential issues

  • Proven organizational skills, works well on their own, able to set and meet deadlines with quality results

  • Energetic, enthusiastic, self-motivated and dynamic

  • Self-confident, creative and proactive, able to prioritize and make effective decisions

  • Computer literate with working knowledge of; HR Manager, Excel, MS Word, PowerPoint & Publisher
